Apology Request from Cha Eun Woo and Jaehyun NCT Becomes the Spotlight of Netizens for Being Considered Too Similar

Kapanlagi.com - Recently, Cha Eun Woo, Jaehyun NCT, Jungkook BTS, and Mingyu SEVENTEEN have been in the public eye for being caught going together to several places in Itaewon during the quarantine period. The four idols, who were born in '97, visited a restaurant and 2 entertainment facilities.

After this news became a hot topic and was confirmed by their agencies, each idol, including Jaehyun and Cha Eun Woo, wrote handwritten apology letters regarding the controversy.

1. Similarity of the Two Letters

According to Allkpop, a post on a Korean online community found inconsistencies in the letters written by the two idols. In the post, both letters were attached and highlighted the similar parts.

There are six points of similarity between Jaehyun and Cha Eun Woo's letters that caught the attention of the sender, ranging from word choice, syntax, and even almost identical sentence structure.

2. Flood of Netizen Comments

Netizens who stopped by also responded to the similarities found by the sender. Here are some netizen comments in the online community:

"Are they asking each other about the things they write?"

"At least change the order, please."

"Jaehyun's apology mentioned medical staff. That's the only difference."

"Cha Eun Woo's letter + mentioning medical staff = Jaehyun's letter."

3. Not Practicing Self-Isolation

On the same day the four related idols visited Itaewon, which was April 25, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) issued a statement urging caution and reiterating the importance of social distancing. Not only gathering during a pandemic, but what concerns Korean netizens is how these idols responded to their visits after the outbreak of the new COVID-19 cases related to Itaewon.

After visiting Itaewon, these four idols were supposed to self-isolate for 14 days until May 10. However, Cha Eunwoo began promoting his comeback with ASTRO on May 7. He appeared on Cultwo Show and Hidden Track, as well as performed on Music Bank on May 8 and Music Core on May 9. On the other hand, Jaehyun continued to be the MC for Inkigayo and appeared on the episodes on April 26, May 3, and May 10.
