CL recently came back into the spotlight after being involved in a legal case. On January 22, 2026, the Yongsan Seoul Police decided to refer the leader of 2NE1 to the prosecutor's office without detention.

CL is suspected of operating a personal agency named Very Cherry since 2020 without officially registering it. This case is directly related to violations of the Cultural Industry Development and Popular Arts Law in South Korea.
