Not only South Korea has mandatory military service, but several other countries do as well, including Thailand. The difference is that in South Korea, all men are required, while in Thailand they must first go through a selection process. The method is through a lottery or some sort of drawing. Every year, men who have reached the appropriate age must gather at their respective selection locations. Those who receive a red card are obligated to join the military, while those who receive a black card are exempt.

Interestingly, during each selection, some transgender individuals are seen participating and attracting attention. Here are some photos of them!

A Facebook account owned by Taobaobei recently (around April) uploaded photos of beautiful transgender women participating in the military draft selection.

It can't be denied, the media intentionally came to cover the military draft selection and highlight the participation of beautiful transgender individuals.

Actually, transgender individuals should not be allowed to participate in the military draft because they will automatically be disqualified from becoming soldiers even if they receive a red card. But because their birth certificates state them as male, these transgender individuals still participate.

Because of that, many (straight) men pretend to be transgender by wearing women's clothing during the selection process to avoid mandatory military service.

As reported by Coconuts.co, recently a transgender individual voiced out that people like them should not be prohibited from participating in the military draft, if even (cisgender) women are allowed to become soldiers.

One of the transgender's statement received praise and was considered to have a high sense of nationalism. In fact, the statement was also used to mock men who want to abolish the mandatory military system.

But even though it received praise, the statement was considered hypocritical by a political observer. The statement was said to ignore the feelings of men who have to leave their jobs and families if chosen for military service, because as mentioned earlier, a transgender person is not allowed to serve in the military.

A political observer said that if the transgender person really wants to serve in the military, then they should dress like a man during the selection process and politely take a red card. This statement can also make other transgender individuals who do not want to serve in the military feel uncomfortable.
