In 2011, songwriter Kim Sin Il filed a lawsuit against Park Jin Young, claiming that the song 'Someday' sung by IU and composed by Park Jin Young plagiarized Kim's song titled 'To My Man'.

On February 10, 2012, the Seoul Central District Court ruled that 'Someday' was a result of plagiarism from Kim Sin Il's song, and ordered Park Jin Young to pay a fine of 21.67 million won or approximately 324 million rupiah. J.Y. Park accepted the decision. However, on January 24, 2013, the Seoul Central District Court requested him to pay the remaining 56.93 million won or approximately 668 million rupiah to songwriter Kim.
