Full Struggle, These 7 Girlbands Debut Through Survival Idol Shows: TWICE - IZONE

Because of this, many women from the Land of Ginseng choose to spend their youth as trainees in various agencies, both big and small. However, some of them still have to struggle by participating in survival idol shows created by television or their own agencies.

Despite the difficulties, their hard work finally pays off when they debut through the survival idol shows they participated in. There are 7 girlbands who debuted from survival idol shows, and some of them are popular girlbands!

1. TWICE

TWICE was formed from the idol survival show by JYP Entertainment, SIXTEEN. In the show, CEO Park Jin Young himself judged and selected which members were worthy of debut. SIXTEEN itself aired on Mnet in 2015 with a total of 10 episodes.

2. UNI.T

THE UNIT is an idol survival show that gave birth to 1 boyband and 1 girlband, namely UNB and UNI.T. Presenting a new concept, all contestants from this program were members of boy groups or girl groups that were considered less successful. They then competed to get another chance to debut and become famous.

3. MOMOLAND

Not much is known, MOMOLAND is also formed from an idol survival show titled FINDING MOMOLAND. The show aired in 2016 with a duration of 10 episodes. For those who are curious, the show was broadcasted by Mnet from July 22 to September 16, 2016.

The success of the PRODUCE series made Mnet want to create a new group from another idol survival show. Carrying a different concept, this time the group that will be formed is not temporary. Dedicated to women, IDOL SCHOOL then gave birth to a new girl group called fromis_9.

5. KARA

Being one of the oldest idol survival shows, KARA PROJECT was formed to find new members for the girl group KARA after the departure of Nicole and Jiyoung. The show, formed by DPS Entertainment and MBC Plus Media, was followed by 7 trainees from DSP media who competed fiercely to become part of the group. The winner of the competition was Heo Young Ji, who eventually became the new member of KARA.

6. IOI

Currently, who doesn't know about the show PRODUCE 101? Mnet's idol survival program started its first season by forming a girl group named IOI. Through 11 episodes of selection, 11 members of IOI were finally chosen as winners after eliminating 90 other contestants. Mnet's huge success continued with the next season by forming a boy group, which gave birth to WANNAONE.

7. IZONE

PRODUCE 48 is the 3rd season of the PRODUCE series that forms a girl group consisting of members from Korea and Japan, IZONE. Unlike the previous two seasons of PRODUCE, this time Mnet collaborated with the 48 Group to recruit members for a girl group that will debut in both Korea and Japan. With a new system, this newly formed girl group will promote together with a 2.5-year contract.

Becoming an idol is a difficult dream to achieve, and the members of the above girl groups have struggled in idol survival shows to fulfill their dreams. Their hard work has paid off with the popularity they currently have.
