The emergence of new groups in the K-Pop industry is one of the things that often attracts the attention and enthusiasm of K-Pop fans. This is because every newly debuted K-Pop group will have a new concept and make it a breath of fresh air for K-Pop fans. Before debut, usually each agency has determined the number of members who will join the debut group formation.

However, in the K-Pop industry, there are several agencies that have the innovation to add new members to a group that has already debuted. New members will be added to replace members who have left or to perfect a group. After adding members, it turns out that these girl groups are said to have a better formation. 1. Wonder Girls (2007)

One of the popular second generation girl groups, Wonder Girls made their debut in 2007 with their debut song titled Irony. Initially, Wonder Girls debuted with five members, namely Yeeun, Sunye, Sunmi, Hyuna, and Sohee. However, shortly after their debut, Hyuna decided to leave the group. After Hyuna's departure, Wonder Girls added a new member, Yubin.

In 2010, Sunmi announced a hiatus to pursue her academic career and Wonder Girls added a new member, Hyerim. Six years after their debut, Wonder Girls lost two members at once, Sohee in 2013 and Sunye in 2014. After losing two members, Wonder Girls made a comeback in 2015 with the return of Sunmi. This girl group under JYP Entertainment officially disbanded in 2017.

2. EXID (2012)

Girl group EXID made their debut in February 2012 with their debut song titled Whoz That Girl. At the beginning of their debut, EXID consisted of six members, namely Yuji, Hani, Haeryeong, Jenghwa, LE, and Dami. Just two months after their debut, three EXID members, Yuji, Haeryeong, and Dami, decided to leave for personal reasons. Subsequently, EXID added two new members to join, namely Solji and Hyelin. After debuting for 11 years, EXID successfully gained popularity through their iconic songs, such as Up&Down, I Love You, Every Night, and Hot Pink.

3. Red Velvet (2014)

Girl group Red Velvet became the next generation girl group, which added members after their debut. Red Velvet made their debut in August 2014 with four members, Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy. When they released their first mini album ICE CREAM CAKE in March 2015, Red Velvet surprisingly added their last member, Yeri. After almost 9 years since their debut, Red Velvet successfully captured attention and gained tremendous popularity through their songs. Some iconic Red Velvet songs include Psycho, Queendom, Bad Boy, Russian Roulette, Peek A Boo, Red Flavor, and Chill Kill.

4. CLC (2015)

CLC is a girl group that debuted under Cube Entertainment in 2015. CLC debuted with five members, Seunghee, Yujin, Seungyeon, Sorn, and Yeeun, and released their debut mini album titled FIRST LOVE. Later, when releasing their third mini album in February 2016, CLC added new members, Elkie and Eunbin. However, after 8 years since their debut, CLC announced their disbandment in 2022.

5. WJSN (2016)

Cosmic Girls, also known as WJSN, is a South Korean and Chinese girl group that debuted in February 2016. At the beginning of their debut, WJSN consisted of 12 members, Seola, Xuanyi, Bona, Exy, Soobin, Luda, Dawon, Eunseo, Cheng Xiao, Meiqi, Yeoreum, and Dayoung. Several months after their debut, WJSN added a member, Yeonjung, and she joined in July 2016. Throughout their career, WJSN has achieved popularity by releasing a number of hit songs, such as Where You Are, Our Garden, You Got, Memories, and Masquerade.

6. MOMOLAND (2016)

MOMOLAND began their debut on November 10, 2016 with a mini album titled WELCOME TO MOMOLAND. The group was formed by MLD Entertainment through the talent search show Finding Momoland in 2016. From the show, seven members were selected, namely Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy. One year after their debut, MOMOLAND added two new members, Daisy and Taeha.

On November 30, 2019, two MOMOLAND members, Taeha and Yeonwoo, decided to leave the group, followed by Daisy in 2020. Three years later, in 2023, MOMOLAND decided to disband and not renew their contract with MLD Entertainment. Throughout their career, MOMOLAND has released a total of 36 songs with hit songs, such as Bboom Bboom, Pinky Love, and Yummy Yummy Love.

7. Cignature (2020)

Girl group under C9 Entertainment, Cignature is one of the gen 4 groups that added members after debut. Cignature officially debuted in 2020 by releasing the song Nun Nu Nan Na. At the beginning of their debut, Cignature consisted of seven members, namely Chaesol, Jeewon, Seline, Belle, Semi, Ye Ah, and Sunn. However, one year after their debut, precisely in April 2021, Cignature members Ye Ah and Sunn officially left the group. After that, in June, Cignature added two new members, Chloe and Dohee.

8. Billlie (2021)

Next gen 4 girl group, Billlie, also added members after debut. Billlie officially debuted in 2021 under Mystic Story. The group initially consisted of six members, Moon Sua, Suhyeon, Haram, Tsuki, Siyoon, and Haruna. However, Billlie later added one more member, Sheon.
