Hold a Live Broadcast Without Permission, NewJeans Demands HYBE to Reinstate CEO Min Hee Jin

This has been confirmed by ADOR, the record label of NewJeans, which issued a statement announcing the appointment of Kim Joo Young as the new CEO. "We held a board meeting and appointed Kim Joo Young, internal director of ADOR, as the new CEO. Kim Joo Young is an HR expert with experience in various industries and will be responsible for stabilizing and restructuring ADOR's internal structure," ADOR's statement on Tuesday (27/08/2024) quoted from Soompi.

Surprisingly, NewJeans held a live broadcast via youtube on Wednesday afternoon Korea time (11/09/2024). The broadcast was conducted without permission from the company by all five members to demand that HYBE immediately reinstate the CEO position to Min Hee Jin.

The main reason the NewJeans members held a live broadcast was to demand that HYBE immediately restore ADOR to its original system by reinstating Min Hee Jin as CEO. The live broadcast was conducted by them as a last resort because their efforts had always been ignored by the company.

"We prepared this live broadcast because the five of us have something we really want to convey. What we want to convey today is ultimately directed at HYBE. We have held meetings with the company management and expressed our opinions, but based on the events that occurred after those meetings, it seems that what we want has not been conveyed or communicated well," said Hyein of NewJeans in a live session reported by Soompi.

"The way HYBE operates right now feels dishonest and wrong to us. Please, stop interfering. Restore our CEO and bring us back to the original ADOR environment we had before with familiar people, not strangers." Hyein continued.

They firmly demanded that HYBE must restore ADOR to its original state by reinstating Min Hee Jin as CEO no later than September 25, 2024.

"What we want is the original ADOR where the Management and Production of CEO Min Hee Jin are integrated. This request is so that we can reach an agreement with HYBE and not have to fight anymore. If you agree with us, we want ADOR back on the 25th!" said Minji NewJeans firmly in Korean.

2. Desire to Continue Collaborating with CEO Min Hee Jin

During the live broadcast, they continuously expressed their desire to keep working with Min Hee Jin. They also shared their experiences from the time when Min Hee Jin was still serving as the CEO of ADOR.

"NewJeans has a unique color and pattern, which was created together with CEO Min Hee Jin. She is an essential part of NewJeans' identity and we all feel that she is irreplaceable." Danielle from NewJeans stated in English.

"With CEO Min Hee Jin, we were able to prepare every task with sincere hearts, and I believe that shows in our work. Pouring our sincere efforts into something is only possible because the people we collaborate with trust each other and share the same vision," Danielle from NewJeans added.

3. The Company's Different Treatment of NewJeans

They also expressed that the company's treatment felt different towards them since the change of CEO at ADOR. This has even been felt by all five members when the new CEO sent his greetings.

"We heard that the new CEO sent his greetings to us through our manager. Since he joined ADOR, from his first actions we couldn't feel any sincerity at all." said Hyein from NewJeans.

One member of NewJeans, Hanni, recounted her experience of being ignored by members of another girl group because she was instructed by that group's management. Hanni revealed that the company, especially the CEO, did not follow up on this matter because Hanni did not have strong evidence.

"I told our new CEO about this but he said I had no evidence and that I was too late." Hanni from NewJeans clarified.

"When I looked at it, he tried to forget the problem. I realized that the person who protected us was no longer there. I realized that we no longer had a superior who cared about us. I told him the truth, but he made me feel like a liar." She continued.

4. Concerns About NewJeans' Future

With the treatment that Hanni received from the new CEO, the members are certainly worried about the future of their group if such issues arise again.

"But even after telling them about my problems, they blamed me, I'm worried about the future." Hanni from NewJeans said.

"I think about how often the same situation will occur in the future, especially since we don't even have someone to protect us. Of course, I'm worried." Minji from NewJeans stated.
