On Wednesday (08/10), an anonymous person uploaded a photo showing Huening Kai with a woman, allegedly while intoxicated. The anonymous person also wrote a caption stating that a day after arriving in Korea, Huening Kai was seen drunk until morning with the woman. In the post, they added that Huening Kai waited for the atmosphere to be quiet before finally going home by car.
Seeing the widely circulated photo, TXT fans or MOA immediately came to the idol's defense. They argued that the woman in the photo is likely Huening Kai's sister. However, despite being defended by many fans, the rumor continued to spread quickly online. This situation ultimately made Huening Kai feel the need to clarify the situation to prevent any greater misunderstandings.
Huening Kai then wrote a long message on Weverse to reassure his fans. In his message, he apologized for making MOA worried and causing confusion among fans. He explained that the woman in the photo was an acquaintance he was driving home. "I was with an acquaintance, and in that situation, I couldn't just leave her behind, so I brought them home and then went straight back to the dorm," wrote Huening Kai.
In his clarification, Huening Kai emphasized that the woman was an old friend he hadn't seen in a long time. He said that he felt bad leaving her alone, so he decided to drive her home. After ensuring that the woman arrived home safely, Huening Kai went straight back to the dorm.
Huening Kai also apologized to his fans for causing concern. He emphasized that he never intended to disappoint MOA or create misunderstandings. "I hate lying, so I just wanted to be honest. It seems like this situation caused a lot of misunderstandings, but MOAs don’t need to worry at all," he wrote. He added that honesty is important to him, so he wanted to explain everything openly.
Huening Kai admitted feeling guilty because he felt he could not maintain the trust that his fans had given him. He expressed regret for making MOA worried about the rumors circulating.
"I said I wanted to be someone you could trust, but I feel like I wasn't able to, so I'm sorry," he concluded.
