Being the beginning of the 5th generation in the world of K-Pop, the first half of 2024 has welcomed many new faces. The arrival of the 5th generation in the world of K-Pop signifies that the 4th generation era has been replaced. Just two months apart, ILLIT and BABYMONSTER officially debuted to join the 5th generation K-Pop group. Achieving great success with their debut songs, ILLIT and BABYMONSTER are new girl groups that are beautiful and full of talent. ILLIT debuted with the song Magnetic on March 25, 2024, while BABYMONSTER debuted with the song Sheesh released on April 1, 2024.

YG Entertainment & HYBE Labels

BABYMONSTER is a South Korean girl group under the management of YG Entertainment. As a new girl group that YG debuted after 7 years, BABYMONSTER is expected to achieve success like BLACKPINK. YG Entertainment itself is part of the BIG3, which is the term for the largest and most influential agencies in the South Korean music industry. Because YG is synonymous with swag and hip-hop concept, BABYMONSTER will provide energetic performances and their interesting music in the future.

Unlike BABYMONSTER, ILLIT is a girl group that debuted under the management of HYBE Labels. HYBE Labels itself is known for its success in producing highly famous K-Pop groups such as BTS and LE SSERAFIM. Carrying a fresh and light concept, ILLIT is expected to achieve global success like their sunbaes from other HYBE Labels.

2. ILLIT & BABYMONSTER Both Have Non-Korean Members

As a 5th generation girl group expected to achieve international success, both ILLIT and BABYMONSTER have several non-Korean members. ILLIT consists of 5 members, with 3 Koreans and 2 Japanese. Noh Yunah, Park Minju, and Lee Wonhee are from South Korea. Sakai Moka and Hokazono are from Japan.

On the other hand, BABYMONSTER has a total of 7 members in their group. They consist of 3 Koreans, 2 Japanese, and 2 Thais. Kawai Ruka and Enami Asa are of Japanese descent. As trainees with different training periods, each K-Pop idol has to fight for themselves to debut. The long journey requires them to compete for opportunities. Both ILLIT and BABYMONSTER members also have to go through a survival show before officially debuting as singers. The ILLIT group was formed through the 'R U Next?' program, which was developed by Belift Lab in collaboration with JTBC.

The 'R U Next?' program really did everything from scratch to be broadcasted to fans. Starting from auditions, competition performances, to preliminary rounds. This is intended to select and choose the final members to be included in the ILLIT group. Unlike ILLIT, the BABYMONSTER survival show only broadcasts their monthly evaluations.
