Kayoko Takita AKB48 Positive COVID-19, Experiencing Fever - Decreased Sense of Taste and Smell

Recently, one of the members of AKB48, Kayoko Takita, has been confirmed positive for COVID-19. This news was announced through the official blog of the popular Japanese idol group, which currently consists of 107 active members.

1. Experiencing a Series of Symptoms

On Thursday (9/7/2020), Kayoko Takita was reported to have a fever, which is one of the most common symptoms of this virus. According to Koreaboo, the agency explained that Kayoko Takita had recovered to normal temperature after a day, so the 23-year-old member of AKB48 practiced social distancing.

However, additional symptoms began to appear, including a decrease in taste and smell. Kayoko Takita underwent a COVID-19 test on July 18, 2020, and received a positive result the following day, Sunday (19/7/2020).

2. Group Activities Continue

The agency confirmed that Kayoko Takita has not participated in any external activities since April. However, Kayoko Takita had contact with Makiho Tatsuya on July 2. Therefore, the agency stated that Makiho Tatsuya will also be tested even though she does not show symptoms.

Meanwhile, the activities of other members and staff who are believed to have no history of contact with Kayoko Takita will proceed as planned. We hope Kayoko Takita recovers quickly and can resume activities with AKB48!
