Kim Mu Yeol and Kim Ah Joong Talk About 'GRID': About Seo Kang Joon, Being a Divorced Couple, and If Ghosts Really Exist

Kapanlagi.com - GRID is finally airing on Disney+ and ready to entertain Korean drama lovers with its mystery, fantasy, action, and thriller genre. This drama is starred by several well-known Korean actors. Among them are Seo Kang Joon, Kim Ah Joong, Kim Mu Yeol, Lee Si Young, and others.

The GRID mentioned in this drama is a shield that protects the earth from global crises. In addition, in 1997, a mysterious woman called 'ghost' (played by Lee Si Young) saved the earth but disappeared. Her existence is known again 24 years later when she saves a killer (Kim Sung Kyun).

A while ago, the Kapanlagi.com team had the opportunity to participate in an interview with two stars of GRID, Kim Mu Yeol and Kim Ah Joong, who respectively play Song Eo Jin and Jung Sae Byuk. Both of them gave some interesting answers regarding the drama GRID that they starred in.

1. Action Scene Questions

As explained earlier, GRID contains several action scenes. Of course, during filming, the actors need to prepare in order for their scenes to appear realistic on camera. Kim Ah Joong answered that she didn't undergo extensive training for her role.

"Honestly, I didn't go through a long training. But it doesn't mean I didn't prepare anything for my role, because it would be strange if I portrayed a detective character like a CIA agent and focused on portraying it like most detectives in Korea. I received training before filming that can be seen during the scene against the ghost," explained Kim Ah Joong.

Kim Mu Yeol then added what his co-star had already mentioned. "I just want to add that Kim Ah Joong is very humble. Kim Ah Joong did all the scenes that she could do on her own. There was a car chase scene and the actors were not replaced by stuntmen, and there was a minor accident because the car was speeding but fortunately no one was injured. But it proves our seriousness in showing a scene to make it appear real. And Kim Ah Joong gave all her energy to make that scene look perfect."

2. Kim Mu Yeol and Kim Ah Joong on their roles as husband and wife

Kim Ah Joong plays the role of a detective. Meanwhile, Kim Mu Yeol is a special team employee at the Administration Bureau whose tasks are always secretive. Both characters not only frequently interact during their duties, but they also turned out to have been married but ended in divorce. However, Kim Mu Yeol tries to hide their past.

"I think I did my best while acting not to show my past with her. I made sure to pretend not to know, even though others know about her past, it doesn't matter because I won't show any feelings," said the actor who is married to actress Yoon Seung Ah in real life.

"I didn't prepare or plan anything for our relationship in the drama. So I'm curious about how Kim Mu Yeol will show his emotions. I just go with the flow. He said earlier not to show any feelings, but I accidentally revealed everything. I want the audience to be curious about what's going on between the two characters (played by Kim Mu Yeol and Kim Ah Joong). The more Kim Mu Yeol wants to hide (their relationship in the drama), the more I show it without any intention to expose it. The relationship between humans, whether romantic or not, cannot actually be interpreted. That's why when I'm acting, I observe how my co-star acts, because it takes two people for that," Kim Ah Joong continued, talking about how she portrays her character in GRID as a woman who is already divorced but has to meet her ex-husband again while on duty.

3. Regarding Seo Kang Joon

Seo Kang Joon is another main actor in GRID. Currently, he is serving in the military and therefore unable to participate in promoting this drama. During an interview with the media, Kim Mu Yeol and Kim Ah Joong were asked about their opinions on Seo Kang Joon. Both of them praised the actor who portrayed Ki Sae Ha.

"The character played by Seo Kang Joon, Sae Ha, has a terrible past. While portraying this character, Seo Kang Joon is able to show emotions of sadness, loneliness, and pain from his past through his eyes. He is not just handsome, but I can see him acting with full motivation," explained Kim Mu Yeol about the 29-year-old man.

"I agree with Lee Mu Yeol, there is something special about Seo Kang Joon's eyes. We can see how serious and passionate he is about what he does (acting). He is also able to bring the character of Sae Ha to life well," added Kim Ah Joong.

4. What If The Ghost Really Exists?

The beautiful and mysterious figure of the ghost has successfully made the audience curious about the character played by Lee Si Young. Who is she really, what will she do, where does she come from, and so on. Kim Mu Yeol and Kim Ah Joong were asked, if the ghost really exists in the real world, what would they do?

"If the ghost is indeed real, I would be very grateful because it protects us from the global crisis. If we try to find out who created 'the ghost', I think it is not necessary for us to participate in searching for it," said Kim Mu Yeol.

"If The Ghost is real, it means that global crisis, doomsday, and the like are also real. It is scary and sad for me, more than the existence of the ghost. Because as a human, I am very concerned about the global crisis that can happen anytime, I am not even surprised if it happens tomorrow. As a human, I will do anything to help save human lives," concluded Kim Ah Joong.

5. Must Watch GRID
