"There are so many tone and comedy elements that are indeed more suitable for animation," Kang explained her view. She even admitted it is hard to imagine the characters of KPop Demon Hunters if played by humans in the real world, because the result would surely feel 'too down-to-earth' and lose the fantastic magic that is the film's appeal.

Co-director Chris Appelhans also rejected the live-action plan. According to him, the uniqueness of animation allows for the creation of combinations of fantastic attributes that are nearly impossible to realize in live-action.

"One of the great things about animation is that you can combine various extraordinary abilities into one character," he said, exemplifying how the K-pop idol character in this film can make hilarious jokes, sing, kick enemies, and even dive from the sky all in one sequence of scenes.
