Latest Korean Film 'ESCAPE' Starring Lee Je Hoon, Combines Drama and Military Genres

Film ESCAPE tells the story of a former secret agent who lives in hiding after being involved in a failed dangerous mission. The story revolves around a military camp near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a place divided into two different perspectives.  

In the southern side of the DMZ, this land is considered a symbol of freedom, while in the northern side it is regarded as a land of oppression.  

Sergeant Kyu Nam, a North Korean soldier, has long planned to escape to South Korea to start a new life and build a better future. However, his plan fails when he is captured by the Department of Security while trying to stop a soldier named Dong Hyuk who escaped from the military camp.  

In a dangerous situation, Major of the National Security Department, Hyun Sang, who has known Kyu Nam since childhood, does not accuse him as a fugitive. Instead, Hyun Sang decides to take advantage of this situation by making Kyu Nam a hero who successfully captures a defector.  

This action not only saves Kyu Nam's life but also secures Hyun Sang's reputation and performance record.  

Although considered a hero by Hyun Sang, Kyu Nam remains determined to live according to his own principles, not bound by government control. His desire to continue fighting across borders reflects his strong determination to achieve true freedom.  

On the other hand, Hyun Sang, who tries to protect his life that he has built by sacrificing his personal dreams, desperately tries to stop Kyu Nam. The conflict between them adds tension to the story, depicting the struggle between individual freedom and the obligation to the existing system.
