Lee Byung Hun Talks About Memories of Acting in 'OUR BLUES', Feels Special Playing Kim Hye Ja's Son

"I think I'm quite similar to Dong-seok because we're both spontaneous and unpredictable, like football. When I was first offered this role, I read the script without knowing which character I would play. Han Su (played by Cha Seung Won), who appears early in the drama, was an interesting and complex character for me. I also thought that Jeong Jun (Kim Woo Bin), In Gwon (Park Ji Hwan), and Ho Sik (Choi Young Joon), who appear later, were equally interesting characters," Lee Byung Hun said.

2. Acting with Kim Hye Ja is Unforgettable

As an actor, Lee Byung Hun certainly gained some new experiences during the filming of OUR BLUES. The husband of Lee Min Jung also feels that the character he played gave him special memories while portraying it.

"Dong Seok is a character with many sides. He is always honest about his feelings. For example, when he is angry, he will shout out what is in his mind as loudly as possible. Sometimes it's hard to believe that he is the same character, but that's because he acts according to his feelings. For me, there were many 'firsts' in this project, but the most unforgettable was working with Kim Hye Ja. I also focused on the Jeju dialect. Considering the omnibus structure of this drama, it was the first time I played a supporting character in several episodes. So that was also new," he explained.

Speaking of Kim Hye Ja, acting with this senior actress seems to have a profound impression on Lee Byung Hun. In this drama, they both play as mother and son. Lee Byung Hun even chooses the relationship between his character and the character played by Kim Hye Ja as his favorite pair in OUR BLUES.

"The story of Dong Seok and Ok Dong (Kim Hye Ja's character) impresses me so much. There are moments that are so touching in the relationship between mother and child, so I remember being nervous in some scenes. Then, working with Kim Hye Ja as her child in this drama is so special to me," said Lee Byung Hun.

Everyone has wounds, pain, and despair. But they still live with all of that because they also have hope," he said.
