Who doesn't know F4? Yes, the group of handsome and wealthy guys that makes the audience swoon in the 2018 version of Meteor Garden, which aired in Indonesia on July 16, 2018, giving a new touch to the story of Dong Shancai and the four handsome princes. This time, the setting is no longer in Taiwan, but in super cool metropolitan cities: Shanghai and London!
This drama still centers around Dong Shancai (Shen Yue), an ordinary girl who enters the elite Mingde University and meets F4: Dao Ming Si (Dylan Wang), Hua Ze Lei (Darren Chen), Ximen Yan (Caesar Wu), and Feng Meizuo (Connor Leong). Shancai's presence among them creates conflict, rivalry, and of course, a love triangle that makes the audience feel excited.
Unlike the previous version, Meteor Garden (2018) has many interpretations and altered scenes. The shooting locations, mostly in Shanghai and London, also add a modern and luxurious feel to this drama. Nevertheless, the core story about friendship, love, and struggle remains intact.
As a remake of the 2001 Taiwanese version, and adapted from the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango, Meteor Garden (2018) has several significant differences. In addition to the filming locations, the appearances of the characters are also more modern and in line with current trends.
Some iconic scenes from the previous version are also adapted with a fresh new touch. This makes the drama still feel relevant to today's audience, without losing the essence of the original story.
