Profile of Barbie Hsu: Legendary Actress Who Passed Away at the Age of 48 Due to Flu Complications

"Our entire family went to Japan for a vacation, but we lost our beloved sister, Barbie Hsu, due to pneumonia caused by flu complications," said Barbie's sister to Focustaiwan.tw.  

Barbie Hsu, or Xu Xi Yuan, was born in Shandong, China, on October 6, 1976. She gained fame for her role as Shan Cai in Meteor Garden (2001), an adaptation of the Japanese comic Boys Over Flowers. 

Barbie Hsu's love life has always been in the spotlight. In the late 2000s, it was revealed that she had a two-year relationship with DJ Koo, a member of the legendary K-Pop group. However, their relationship had to end due to a ban from DJ Koo's agency. 

While filming Meteor Garden, Barbie was in a relationship with Blue Lan from 2001 to 2005. Many noticed the resemblance between Blue Lan and Barbie's favorite actor, Takeshi Kaneshiro.

After breaking up with Blue Lan, Barbie dated Vic Zhou, but their relationship ended in early 2008. In 2010, Barbie married successful businessman Wang Xiaofei after only dating for 49 days.

The couple was blessed with two children before eventually divorcing in 2021 due to incompatibility. After her divorce, Barbie rekindled her relationship with DJ Koo, and they got married in March 2022.

However, in early 2024, her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, accused Barbie of cheating on him with DJ Koo during their marriage. Barbie defended herself by stating that she was the one who was cheated on during her marriage to Wang Xiaofei.

In addition to Meteor Garden, Barbie is also known for her role in the TV series MARS (2004) and her film debut, The Ghost Inside (2005). Not only successful in the acting world, Barbie also explores her talent in the music industry. 

Together with her sister, Xu Xi Di, she formed the music duo S.O.S. (Sisters of Shu), which later changed its name to ASOS (A Sister of Shu). Their album, Abnormal Girls, is proof of Barbie's talent as a versatile artist.
