Netflix Releases First Teaser for 'MONEY HEIST: KOREA - JOINT ECONOMIC AREA' and Fans Can't Wait

With the reunification process in sight, North and South Korea establish the Unified Korea Printing Money to produce a new currency. Although initially hoped to become the basis for a stable economic union, it instead creates a huge imbalance for many people.

2. The Great Robbery

Determined to face an unfair world, a group of thieves (including a former soldier from the North named Tokyo) unite under the leadership of a man known as The Professor. Together, they plan to carry out a massive robbery that has never been seen before: stealing money that doesn't even exist yet!

They must also prepare to face their enemies, the joint task force led by South Korean Negotiation Specialist Seon Woojin and North Korean agent Cha Moohyu. The complex strategies and the ticking clock will only add to the excitement of this series.

3. Unique Touches

Although adapted from the same-titled series, writer Ryu Yong-jae says that MONEY HEIST: KOREA - JOINT ECONOMIC AREA has unique and distinctive touches that set it apart from the original story.

"The premise of the story, which revolves around a shared currency and a money printing facility built in the Joint Security Area (which currently separates North and South Korea), will give a unique and distinctive Korean touch to the original story," says writer Ryu Yong-jae.

4. Video Teaser

In addition, the video teaser also shows some of the characters in this series - including Professor (Yoo Ji-tae), Tokyo (Jung Jong-seo), and Berlin (Park Hae-soo known from Squid Game) - in red jumpsuits and traditional Korean Hahoe masks that further pique curiosity.

5. The Story of the Strategist and His Team

The series MONEY HEIST: KOREA - JOINT ECONOMIC AREA follows a strategist and his team - consisting of elite thieves - in an unprecedented robbery attempt on the Korean Peninsula. Various surprises await as the team carries out their hostage-taking operation and faces various complex challenges.
