Newest Sci-Fi K-Drama PARASYTE: THE GREY Premieres on April 5, Directed by TRAIN TO BUSAN Director

Kapanlagi.com - Netflix will bring the latest Korean series titled PARASYTE: THE GREY which will start airing on April 5. This science fiction thriller series presents a story of when parasites take over Korea, adapted from the legendary manga titled PARASYTE by Hitoshi Iwaaki, which has sold more than 25 million copies in over 30 regions and countries.

The series PARASYTE: THE GREY has a new setting, characters, and storyline while still preserving the imaginative world and deep message from the manga PARASYTE. The main character named Su In, played by Jeon So Nee (OUR BLOOMING YOUTH, SCRIPTING YOUR DESTINY, SOULMATE, BAD POLICE), tries to live a life that now forces her to coexist with the presence of a parasite. This series also follows the efforts of Team Grey, a group that tries to combat various mysterious parasites that live off human bodies.

PARASYTE: THE GREY is directed by Yeon Sang Ho, who is known for his experience in the K-zombie genre and projects like THE KING OF PIGS, THE FAKE, JUNG E, and TRAIN TO BUSAN. Previously, Yeon also successfully adapted comic book stories for the screen through HELLBOUND which received much praise.

Both Hitoshi Iwaaki and Yeon Sang Ho support and appreciate each other's work. Iwaaki, who is a fan of Yeon's film TRAIN TO BUSAN, said, "I am very happy that this is a new story. Although I am the original manga author, I am also a viewer who looks forward to excitement and admiration. When this manga adaptation was made in Japan, PARASYTE manga was like my child born in a small room, while its animation and live-action film were like grandchildren, born from my child who wandered the world and met so many people with their wisdom, experiences, and technology. The cast of this series includes Koo Kyo Hwan (D.P., KINGDOM: ASHIN OF THE NORTH, KILL BOKSOON, ESCAPE FROM MOGADISHU) as Kang Woo, a man determined to fight various parasites in an effort to find his missing sister. Lee Jung Hyun (LIMIT, DECISION TO LEAVE, NIGHT OF THE UNDEAD) portrays Jun Kyung, the leader of the anti-parasite task force, Team Grey. Kwon Hae Hyo (D.P., FORECASTING LOVE AND WEATHER, PENINSULA) plays Chul Min, a senior detective who strives to protect Su In, while Kim In Kwon (THE CURSED: DEAD MANS PREY, THE BATTLE OF JANGSARI) takes on the role of Won Seok, Chul Min's junior colleague.
