1. The Unique Love Story Between a Vampire and a Human

HEARTBEAT depicts the love story between a vampire who wants to become human and a human who has to live with the vampire. Director Lee Hyun Suk explained, "The meeting and love story between Sun Woo Hyeol and Joo In Hae will bring comedic elements."

The director continued that the story is very cheerful, lively, and enjoyable to watch, "I think that's where it differs from other vampire themes."

2. Featuring Different Vampire Characters

Director Lee Hyun Suk admitted that he pondered a lot on how to portray vampires in this drama. "The vampires in HEARTBEAT need love, bring comedy, and can make people smile and laugh. I think he doesn't need to resemble the vampires that viewers usually see," commented the director.

"You may not see some usual vampire characteristics, but you can consider them as Korean vampires," he added.

3. Reasons for the Cast to Join

Light and entertaining story became the reason for Ok Taecyeon and Won Ji An to join this project. Meanwhile, HEARTBEAT became the first drama for Park Kang Hyun, who was previously known as a musical actor. Park Kang Hyun sees his character, Shin Do Shik, as someone very different from the roles he has played before.

On the other hand, Yoon So Hee explained that she has always wanted to play in a fantasy-themed drama. The actress portrays two different characters at once for the first time and commented, "I have to think about the kind of life they live and how they change after meeting Woo Hyeol. Because their time periods are different, I also have to consider how they speak. I had fun doing the research."

4. Working Experience with Each Other

Portraying two characters who fall in love with each other, Ok Taecyeon and Won Ji An do not hesitate to compliment each other. Ok Taecyeon admires the way Won Ji An expresses her character and says, "She is an actress who can make you fall in love with the character Joo In Hae."

Not to be outdone, Won Ji An herself also praises Ok Taecyeon's energy during filming that can brighten the atmosphere, "Even though he must be tired, I can take pictures with him and receive positive energy."

5. Challenges for the Cast

With the presence of fantasy elements, Ok Taecyeon feels that CGI effects are the most difficult aspect for his role as a vampire. "We act on the shooting location, but there are things that we cannot see that are added during post-production. I try to imagine the CGI effects while acting," says Ok Taecyeon.

For Park Kang Hyun, who is accustomed to singing and acting in front of an audience, adapting to acting in front of the camera is his biggest challenge. Park Kang Hyun also participated in the soundtrack of this drama and admits that it is also difficult for him, "I have to sing while expressing the heart of Sun Woo Hyeol and not the heart of Shin Do Shik."
