Returning to Film, Song Hye Kyo Plays a Demon-Exorcising Nun in 'DARK NUNS'

Having achieved success through the Korean drama THE GLORY, Song Hye Kyo will return through a film titled DARK NUNS. This film is a spin-off of THE PRIESTS which was released in 2015. This news was confirmed on Friday, February 16, 2024, by OSEN. Filming itself will begin on February 22.

The sequel to THE PRIESTS (2015) will be written and directed by Jang Jae-Hyun, who is also preparing for the horror film EXHUMA. Previously, THE PRIESTS starred Kim Yoon-seok, Park So-dam, and Kang Dong-won. The film sold more than 5.4 million tickets from 1,109 local theaters since its release on November 5, 2015.

DARK NUNS will be Song Hye Kyo's first film in about 9 years since starring in THE CROSSING in 2015. However, despite taking a long break from the big screen, Song Hye Kyo has starred in several Korean drama series, such as DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN, NOW WE ARE BREAKING UP, ENCOUNTER, and two seasons of THE GLORY which gained global popularity.

Previously in the movie THE PRIESTS, there was a priest named Kim who was visiting a child named Young Sin who was suffering from a mysterious illness. Priest Kim believed that the child was possessed by an evil spirit and performed an exorcism on Young Sin.

Unfortunately, the deacon ran away during the exorcism process. This film is a thriller genre that tells the story of the priest's struggle to save Young Sin's life from evil spirits.

Meanwhile, DARK NUNS tells the story of a pastor who provides assistance to a nun trapped in a dark secret that threatens her life. In addition, there will also be two young children possessed by evil spirits. This film will present a mysterious and tense thriller story.

In the film DARK NUNS, Song Hye Kyo will play the role of Junia, who is a nun. Junia has a very diligent character and wants to save the life of a boy who is possessed by demons. Although her efforts are not successful, she does not give up.

Then Jeon Yeo Been will portray Michaela, who is also a nun. Michaela is a nun who has a great curiosity, especially towards Junia. Until finally, Michaela gets involved in a confusing and chaotic situation and helps Junia.

Lee Jin Wook will play the role of a pastor named Paolo. In addition to being a pastor, Paolo is also a psychiatrist who is confident that medicine can help the boy possessed by evil spirits. Not only Lee Jin Wook, actor Heo Joon Ho also joins this film as a character named Andrea, a pastor. Andrea will be a figure who helps in the exorcism of demons from the body of the boy saved by Junia.

Moon Woo Jin plays the character named Hee Joon, the boy possessed by demons in this film.
