SM Entertainment Will Debut a New Group, Possibly with an Indonesian Member?

This year, Dita Secret Number became the first Indonesian female idol to debut in the K-Pop industry. Previously, Loudi from the group 14U was the only Indonesian idol.

However, the situation seems to be changing after a former SM Entertainment employee revealed that there might be an Indonesian member in a K-Pop idol group that will debut under 'the big 3' agency. In a video with K-Pop fans, Indonesian model and YouTuber, Izzi Isman, who used to be a casting judge for SM Entertainment overseas for three years, revealed a bit about auditions in Indonesia.

SM Entertainment has been holding auditions in Indonesia for several years, with the latest audition held in Jakarta and Surabaya in November 2019. According to this former casting agent, there were quite a number of audition applicants.

He stated that on average, there were about 2,500 to 3,000 audition participants in Indonesia per day, with a total of 10,000 applicants. Although it was explained that sometimes no participants passed the auditions, that did not happen in Indonesia. In fact, he revealed that there were four Indonesian participants who successfully passed, two boys and two girls.

2. Debut Possibilities

This former casting agent cannot disclose more about it, but they informed the viewers that all the future idol candidates have already departed for Korea, which means there is a possibility that they have already signed trainee contracts.

As known, SM Entertainment will debut a new girl group this year and a new boy group in 2021. Will the participants who passed the auditions be included in the lineup of these new groups?
