Son Ye Jin and Lee Sun Gyun Reportedly Set to Debut in Hollywood, Starring in a Film with Sam Worthington

It is reported that the CRASH LANDING ON YOU star will star in a film and act alongside Sam Worthington, an actor known for his roles in the film AVATAR and the series CLASH OF THE TITANS.

Although MS Team Entertainment has hinted that it is almost certain that Son Ye Jin will star in the film, the agency remains cautious in making announcements. "Son Ye Jin is in talks for the film CROSS and the prospects are good. Unless there are major changes, she will proceed," said MS Team Entertainment as quoted from Soompi.

According to reports, Son Ye Jin will portray the character Vera, a tough woman who lives near the border of a poor country. After her husband died while attempting to escape across the border, Vera raises her son alone as a single mother.

Sam Worthington is reportedly going to play a man who lives in a wealthy country.

2. Debut Together

Meanwhile, the agency Lee Sun Gyun also confirmed that the PARASITE star is in talks to join the same film. A representative from HODU & U Entertainment stated, "Lee Sun Gyun has received a casting offer for the film CROSS and is currently reviewing the offer. He has not made a decision yet."

According to a report by Star News, Lee Sun Gyun was offered the role of a border protection chief who is intimidating and strong.

3. A Glimpse of the Film 'CROSS'

CROSS will be directed by Andrew Niccol, a figure known for his science fiction films such as IN TIME, THE HOST, and GATTACA. He was also the writer behind the famous 1998 film, THE TRUMAN SHOW. This film is set in the future, in a multiracial country divided into two by a border. CROSS will tell the story of people trapped between these two parts of the country, one of which is wealthy and the other is poor.

Although CROSS has been in development for over a decade, Andrew Niccol recently became interested in shooting in Korea and with local actors after visiting the country last year for inspiration (due to Korea's current status as the "only divided country in the world"). He is also rumored to have personally contacted Son Ye Jin in hopes that the actress will star in the film.

CROSS is scheduled to begin filming in Korea in March 2021.
