Soyou finally spoke up about the plastic surgery rumors circulating widely online. On July 22, the former member of SISTAR held a live broadcast on social media to address the speculation surrounding her name.
Soyou stated that her appearance changes are not due to surgery, but rather a change in makeup style and weight loss. She also revealed that her busy schedule disrupted her eating patterns, resulting in weight loss.

In her live broadcast, Soyou explained that her current weight is around 52 kg and she does not intend to lose any more weight.
She also mentioned that the changes in her face are effects of makeup, such as overlining on her lips and makeup in the corners of her eyes.
Soyou even stated that if many people think her face has changed, it means she looks more beautiful, and that makes her grateful.
Furthermore, Soyou denied having done any fillers or nose surgery, and said that her eyelid fold is natural since birth.
The changes in Soyou's jawline are also said to be a result of her weight loss of about 10 kilograms.
Soyou added that this is the first time she has had a body shape as slim as now, even slimmer than during her active days with SISTAR.
