Kapanlagi.com - Netflix has launched the main poster and the latest video trailer for the new Korean series PARASYTE: THE GREY, which showcases glimpses of the world of parasitic organisms and the struggle of humans against them.
Presenting a broader universe than its original manga, PARASYTE by Hitoshi Iwaaki, this series has a new storyline packed with action, philosophy, and questions about human existence.
Director Yeon Sang Ho (TRAIN TO BUSAN, HELLBOUND) describes the PARASYTE manga as one of the most impactful works in his filmography and incorporates the manga's main message into this live-action series. Enter the world of PARASYTE in a new setting: Korea.
"For me, PARASYTE is about coexistence, so I want PARASYTE: THE GREY to explore the same theme. I wonder if humans can peacefully coexist with non-human organisms or mutants," he said.
1. The Battle of Su In Against Parasites
Netflix
Su In (Jeon So Nee), a young woman trapped between her human form and the influence of parasites, is a symbol of the theme. Heidi is a parasite that lives in Su In's body after a serious accident. She says, "We will both die if we are separated. You and I have no choice but to live together."
However, as a mutant who is half parasite and half human, Su In is not fully classified as either human or parasite. The same goes for the parasites that attempt to take over society, as well as the team led by Jun Kyung (Lee Jung Hyun) who tries to fight various parasite organisms. The dynamics between them present a storyline that arouses curiosity.
The poster with a conquered city scene shows the chaos and destruction caused by invading parasites. However, it also shows the determination and spirit of Su In standing tall alongside Kang Woo (Koo Kyo Hwan), Jun Kyung, Chul Min (Kwon Hae Hyo), and Won Seok (Kim In Kwon) facing the danger.
