Want to Be a Korean Idol? It Turns Out It's Tough to Be a Trainee Before Officially Debuting

Wake Up Early to Get Ready for School (05:00 – 07:00 AM) The trainees' day begins at dawn. They have to wake up at five in the morning to get ready for school. This becomes a challenge because they often sleep very late due to late-night training.

Studying at School (08:00 – 10:00 AM) Each agency has different policies. Some allow trainees to attend school for only 3–4 hours, while others require a full day. However, education remains a priority even amidst a tight training schedule.

Dance Practice Part 1 (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM) After school, the trainees immediately return to the agency for dance practice. This first session focuses on basic choreography and techniques that they must master with high precision.

Lunch (1:00 PM) Meal times are strictly monitored, KLovers. Portions, calories, and meal times are scheduled. They must maintain their weight and physical fitness to meet the visual standards of idols.

Vocal Training (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM) Trainees are required not only to dance but also to sing with perfect technique. This intensive vocal training is conducted daily with professional trainers to hone their singing abilities steadily.

Exercise: Gym or Pilates (5:00 PM) Exercise is an important part of shaping the ideal body. Some agencies require trainees to participate in gym or pilates every day to stay healthy and have the stamina to perform.

Dinner (6:00 PM) After exercising, trainees are allowed to have dinner. Just like lunch, the menu is controlled and usually consists of healthy and low-calorie food. How about it? Still want to try?

Korean Language Class (7:00 PM – 8:00 PM) It turns out that foreign trainees are required to take Korean language classes, KLovers. They must be able to communicate with the team, coaches, and local fans when they debut later.

Song Recording or Second Vocal Practice (9:00 PM – 10:00 PM) The evening time is used for demo recording or additional vocal practice. This is their opportunity to correct mistakes and improve performance.

Dance Practice Part 2 (11:00 PM – 1:00 AM) The second practice session is usually more intense and focused on group choreography. They have to repeat the movements until they are perfect, often until the early hours of the morning. Although it is tiring and full of pressure, all of this is endured by the trainees for one big dream: to debut and become an idol loved by many.
