Worst Korean Films and Actors of 2020 According to Raspberry Film Festival

If in the United States there is the Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies) that selects films with the worst cinematography, South Korea has the Raspberry Film Festival, which awards the worst film in the ginseng country.

For the Raspberry Film Festival itself, a survey was conducted among 25 reporters responsible for the film industry to choose the worst films released from December 1, 2019, to November 30, 2020. Each reporter was given three categories to choose the worst film, actor with the worst acting, and also actor with the worst behavior.

1. Worst Film

In 2020, the title of worst film was awarded to THE GOLDEN HOLIDAY. For those of you who haven't watched it yet, this action comedy film was written and directed by Kim Bong Han, and starred Kwak Do Won, Kim Dae Myung, Kim Sang Ho, and Kim Hee Won.

Reporters who chose THE GOLDEN HOLIDAY as the worst film agreed that it was not funny and had an uninteresting storyline. Nine out of twenty-five reporters who chose this film said, "The film's production was poorly executed," "It's not funny and not enjoyable," and "There's no reason to spend money to watch this film." With a production cost of approximately 9.1 billion won (around Rp 117.6 billion), THE GOLDEN HOLIDAY was barely able to attract 530,000 viewers at the box office. The second film on this list is ROAD FAMILY, chosen by eight out of twenty-five reporters. This film, which premiered in July, failed to attract much attention from viewers and only brought in 5,477 viewers at the box office.

2. Actors with the Worst Acting

The next category is actors with the worst acting in 2020, which falls on Chorong A Pink. Chorong made her film industry debut through ROAD FAMILY, nine years after her debut with A Pink in 2011.

This beautiful idol received harsh criticism for her acting, which was described as 'like a robot' because she couldn't portray or convey deep emotions in the film. The criticism directed at Chorong included phrases like "This is the worst acting from an idol group member" and "She really needs acting practice."

Meanwhile, the actor who ranked second in this category is Bae Jung Nam. This actor starred in MR. ZOO: THE MISSING VIP and OKAY! MADAM.

3. Actors with the Worst Behavior

Finally, the Raspberry Film Festival also selected the actor with the worst behavior, which is a category that examines the attitude, behavior, and personality of actors. Despite being known for his incredible acting ability, actor Kwak Do Won was chosen as the worst this year.

Kwak Do Won played the main character in two films this year, namely THE GOLDEN HOLIDAY and STEEL RAIN 2: SUMMIT. Being the lead actor in both films, Kwak Do Won never appeared in any interviews about his projects. After being involved in rumors of assaulting a staff member during filming in June, he never responded to promotional interviews for his film.

On the other hand, Kwak Do Wong appeared on various variety shows that portrayed him differently. He was criticized for "appearing on television shows without any explanation about the assault incident and portraying himself as a kind-hearted person."
