10 Portraits of the Fun at the Indonesia Jazz n Blues Club, Rahel Talts Quartet's Debut Performance in Southeast Asia

Jazz music enthusiasts were spoiled by the excellent performance of Rahel Talts Quartet on the stage of Indonesia Jazz n' Blues Club (IJBC).

The group, led by Rahel, a pianist from Estonia, Donatas Petreikis, a saxophonist from Lithuania, Mariusz Prasniewski, a double bass player from Poland, and Jesper Lorup Christensen, a drummer from Denmark, successfully 'enchanted' the audience.

On that night, Rahel Talts Quartet performed instrumental songs from their album Greener Grass, released in May 2023.

For your information, all the tracks on this album are composed by Rahel, except for Those Times which was composed by Petreikis.

IJBC itself routinely holds non-commercial music events once a month and receives full support from the Honorary Consulate of Estonia in Jakarta. IJBC itself has been established since 2016.

During the event, Adriana Sri Lestari, the Honorary Consul of Estonia in Jakarta, took the time to give her speech. Adriana is very grateful because Rahel Talts Quartet could be present in Indonesia.

"Rahel Talts is a jazz pianist and composer from Estonia. Her musical journey with experienced musicians in the Rahel Talts Quartet promises a unique and exciting experience for us tonight," said Adriana Sri Lestari, the Honorary Consul of Estonia, on Friday (8/3/2024).

"Thank you to the organizing team of Indonesia Jazz n Blues Club for this fantastic event. Your hard work will help us collaborate and share experiences in the future," Adriana continued.

Meanwhile, Sonny Purnara, Executive Committee of IJBC, stated that the purpose of organizing a monthly event is to increase the frequency of opportunities for jazz and blues talents to perform. He wants jazz and blues music to be known, especially among the Gen Z generation.

"Previously, we have also brought in musicians from abroad, such as Daniel Sahuleka and Paul Anderson. The goal is for Indonesian musicians to learn from them," Sonny concluded.
