The legendary Indonesian rock band, God Bless, launched their latest album titled 'Anthology 50th Anniversary.' Still in the series of celebrations of God Bless' half-century age, the album release was held at Bentara Budaya Jakarta, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/21). Check out more details!
Present at the release were God Bless personnel; Achmad Albar (vocals), Ian Antono (guitar), Donny Fatah (bass), Abadi Soesman (keyboard), and Fajar Satritama (drums). Also joining them were Hendra Lie, who acted as Executive Producer for the Anthology 50th Anniversary Album, and musician Tohpati as music arranger.
The Anthology contains 11 best songs and one instrumental medley composition, taken from six albums during God Bless' 50-year career in the music industry. All songs have been rearranged and recorded with the accompaniment of the Czech Symphony Orchestra, led by Tohpati.
"The release of the Anthology Album is part of the celebration of God Bless' 50 years. As musicians, we are grateful that until today we can still continue to work and give our best for Indonesia," said Iyek, Achmad Albar's nickname, representing his colleagues.
"We hope that the Anthology Album can give encouragement to musicians to maintain their creative spirit and not worry about the end result. Because the most important thing is to keep on the process. The end result is only a bonus for a commitment," explained Ian.
The birth of this album is also inseparable from the role of Hendra Lie as executive producer. The owner of Mata Elang Production was one of the managers at the beginning of God Bless' journey in the 1970s. Likewise, Tohpati's skilled hands also added color and strengthened the magical power of the songs on this album through orchestral touches.
"Of the 12 selected songs, there are several titles that have been adjusted in response to orchestration needs. But overall, the role of orchestral arrangements on this album is a refreshment for anyone who is used to hearing God Bless songs," said Tohpati.
The celebration of God Bless' golden age of 50 years will not stop here, as several agendas are waiting in the near future. God Bless is planned to hold a concert tour in several cities starting from September to October.
In addition to adding to the memorable half-century series, God Bless will also publish a book that tells the journey of the band that was born on May 5, 1973. At the same time, it will be followed by the making of a biopic film about God Bless, directed by Hanung Bramantyo.
