Afgan and Andi Rianto Bring 65 Orchestra Players for the Re-release of the Song 'Mengertilah Kasih'

Kapanlagi.com - Record label Trinity Optima Production has re-released Ruth Sahanaya's song titled Mengertilah Kasih. This time, the song written by the late Indra Safera and Andi Rianto is sung again by Afgan. Afgan collaborates with Andi Rianto, the song's creator.

Afgan explained that the collaboration project with Andi Rianto began when he was working on the album Dekade in 2018. From there, Afgan was interested in singing Andi Rianto's works again.

"Then Mas Andi said, 'I want to create a series of songs that I have created with a new singer.' After that, I immediately said to Mas Andi, 'I want to do it.' I was already tagged since 2018," said Afgan in a press conference in the SCBD area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (17/5/2023).

1. Not Much Preparation

Andi Rianto revealed that there was not much preparation in rearranging the song Mengertilah Kasih. Because he already knew the character of the singer of the song Sadis. Moreover, he has been collaborating with Afgan since 2009.

"I already know Afgan's character very well, from arranging the songs 'Bukan Cinta Biasa' and 'Bunga Terakhir' since 2009," said Andi Rianto.

The latest version of the song Mengertilah Kasih is certainly different from the previous version that was sung by Ruth Sahanaya. The new version, Andi Rianto arranged by incorporating the sound of the orchestra from the Budapest Scoring Orchestra.

2. 65 Orchestra Players from Budapest

"The latest version is realized with the presence of an orchestra consisting of 65 players from Budapest. Musically, this is a successful remake because the soul of the song is not lost," said Andi Rianto.

Meanwhile, Afgan himself is grateful to be trusted to sing the song Mengertilah Kasih by the late Indra Safera and Andi Rianto. Moreover, this song is very inspiring for him.

"The song Mengertilah Kasih has inspired me since I was a child. Hopefully, I can inspire the new generation. On the other hand, I am grateful to be able to collaborate with one of Indonesia's best maestros like Andi Rianto," concluded Afgan.
