Andien Also Sings Remakes of 80s Hits

Kapanlagi.com - Several top singers in the country are remaking hit songs from the 70s to the 80s in the mini album "Lagu Lama dari Masa Lalu Volume 1". They are Andien, Aya Anjani, Dhira Bongs, Kurosuke, Vira Talisa, Mondo Gascaro, and MLDJAZZPROJECT champion of the first season, Adoria.

The mini album "Lagu Lama dari Masa Lalu Volume 1" was born out of a collaboration between MLDSPOT and the Irama Nusantara Foundation. According to Goardan Saragih, a representative of MLDSPOT, this is one of the real efforts to preserve and popularize old songs that were once hits in their time.

"We are very proud to be part of the effort to preserve and popularize the works of legendary Indonesian musicians. This can be a message to the younger generation that Indonesia has a lot of music heritage and can also be a reference for creating quality works in the future," said Goardan in a virtual press conference on Wednesday (16/6/2021).

1. One of the Supports for the Development of Indonesian Music

What's interesting is that through the album "Lagu Lama dari Masa Lalu Volume 1", this also becomes one form of support for the development of Indonesian music, especially through various activities.

Among them is by participating in almost all annual national jazz events and also the organization of MLDARE2PERFORM. It is a competition event to search for talented young jazz musicians in Indonesia that has entered its fourth season.

"In the future, we also hope to collaborate with various parties to inspire the world of Indonesian music," said Goardan.

2. Appreciated by the Younger Generation

Meanwhile, Gerry Apriryan, as the Program Manager of Irama Nusantara, said that this collaboration can be appreciated by the younger generation.

"We open up opportunities to collaborate with various parties to realize the vision in terms of processing the digital archives of popular music that we have. Together with MLDSPOT, the idea of creating a release in the form of a mini album was conceived, which can later become a sustainable effort in preserving Indonesian music from the past," said Gerry Apriryan.

"Through collaboration with MLDSPOT and various artists involved in this project, we invite the public to support the operationalization of archiving Indonesian popular music. Irama Nusantara also invites the public to get to know more #LaguBaruDariMasaLalu so that old songs will continue to be popular in the future," Gerry concluded.

There are five songs in the album "Lagu Lama dari Masa Lalu Volume 1". First is "Walau Dalam Mimpi" composed by David Mesakh, previously popularized by Ermy Kulit. This time, the song is sung by Explorative Pop musician from Bandung, Dhira Bongs.

Second is "Senja dan Kahlua" by the band Transs, led by famous names like Fariz RM and Erwin Gutawa. This time, the song is performed again by Kurosuke. Third is the song "Terbanglah lepas" by Yockie Suryoprayogo. Interestingly, this song is sung again by the talented Aya Anjani feat. Parlemen Pop.

Fourth is the song "Dunia Yang Ternoda" by Jimmie Manopo. Now, it is sung by the collaboration of Vira Talisa with the champion of MLDJAZZPROJECT season one, ADORIA. And lastly, there is Mondo Gascaro and Andien. Both of them, they sing the song "Kisah Insani" which was previously successfully performed by Chrisye and Vina Panduwinata.

"When I was contacted for the first time, I immediately said yes. Because I really love singing songs from the past era. I was thinking, can I bring this song? Because the vibe is very different. But I trust Mondo (Andien's partner) 100% in making this song mine," concluded Andien.
