Ardhito Pramono Raises the Spirit of the 80s Music Glory Era Through 'Wijaya 80', Releases Debut Single Titled 'Last Time'

Ardhito shared that this song was inspired by the story of a friend of his. The friend entrusted his girlfriend to his buddy while he had to go study abroad. However, a new love story actually developed between them. "I have a friend, also a musician. He entrusted his girlfriend because he wanted to study abroad. His girlfriend was entrusted to his friend. But the two of them ended up falling in love in Jakarta."

This situation made the story even more complicated when the friend returned to Jakarta. In the end, the couple who fell in love decided to get married. "When my friend came back to Jakarta, they had to get married. It's like entrusting sandals to someone. It's not just for us,' he said.

The name Wijaya 80 has a strong philosophy for Ardhito and his team. They want to bring back the glory of 80s music, which is considered the golden era in the history of Indonesian music. "Because music always comes back around. It will return to the 80s as well. And from the name Wijaya, it means glory," he explained.

According to them, 80s music has an incredible appeal. That era gave birth to many creative genres, ranging from Indonesian pop, bossa nova pop, to creative pop that inspires them. "The glory of the 80s. In our opinion, the golden era of 80s music was insane. Incredible music, there was creative pop, Indonesian pop, bossa nova pop, so much," said Ardhito.

Ardhito and his team also revealed that they often listen to songs from great musicians of the 80s. Some of them include Krakatau, Chandra Darusman, Fariz RM, and 2D, which are their main references. "We listen to Krakatau, Chandra Darusman, Fariz RM, 2D, so they are our most references in making songs," he said.

As a form of nostalgia, they often play old songs on the radio that no longer exists. This makes their musical style truly reflect the vibe of the 80s. "We often tune into the radio, you know, a radio that doesn't exist anymore and the songs are purely 80s Indonesia. So it really gets into your head," he said.

With Wijaya 80, Ardhito Pramono aims to bring a new color to the Indonesian music scene. Wijaya 80 released a single titled Terakhir Kali on December 6, 2024. This song is their debut single marking their first step in the music industry. With a characteristic vibe of the 80s era, this song is expected to bring a new color while also providing nostalgia for the listeners.
