Bisma Karisma Gives Birth to Single 'Yang Suri' in His First EP Journey

Kapanlagi.com - After 2 years of exploring and searching for his personal voice, Bisma Karisma finally gave birth to his first single titled 'Yang Suri' on July 17, 2020. This is part of his journey towards his debut EP, which is currently in the process of maturation. All of these processes were created to answer the question, 'Who is Bisma Karisma really?'.

"The search for this song actually took 4 years, but the songwriting process took about 2 years. 'Yang Suri' emerged towards the end. It's like it's already mature," said Bisma.

1. New Single From His Life Experience

This single, titled 'Yang Suri', was born from Bisma Karisma's personal experience where the biggest change in his life occurred. It was inspired by the violent experience that Bisma Karisma faced during his school days, which led to deep sincerity. On a calm night during his journey, he was approached by a robbery that resulted in half of his index finger being separated.

Throughout the journey and all the processes that had to be undergone in the hospital, Bisma Karisma was taken to a corridor of consciousness between confusion and hope. Like being clinically dead, he said. However, when the door opened in the morning and brought sunlight into the room, many smiles welcomed him from family and friends who gave him a great energy for life. And believe me, every time you are clinically dead, you will come back to life.

"This is my version of the story, and I hope you all have your own version of the story. That's one of my hopes, that this song can be personally responded to by the listeners. It really feels like going back to 2007, a personal experience that was between life and death. It was a near-death experience. Basically, it was an event that changed my perspective on life, maybe changed my way of life, changed my way of doing things, because it was a huge twist. I still feel it until today. That moment became historic for me to remember and feel, so that it becomes a feeling of emotion that I want to convey," explained Bisma.

2. Not Willing to Explicitly Discuss Genre

For the song Yang Suri, Bisma does not want to explicitly discuss the genre he brings. Instead, he wants the listeners to give a truly honest response from themselves.

"For the song Yang Suri, I only respond to the music bank that I listen to, there are so many and they are mostly from that era. Some even say it's very city pop. But feel free to have your own perception of the genre. I don't want to be too specific, let it be popular maybe. Pop is popular, right? Who doesn't want their music to be popular and felt by many people. If you feel it's power pop from the 80s-90s, then great, if not, it's okay. Because what's interesting is the selection of drum sound and Lafa. The drum sound is quite stubborn, I also explore with Lafa on the lead guitar," he said.

3. Assisted by Arrangement from Lafa Pramoto

The exploration and maturation process of Bisma Karisma's single was assisted by the arrangement of Lafa Pratomo from Ruang Waktu Music. Of course, this quite long process becomes Bisma Karisma's responsibility to articulate his true identity. His meeting with Lafa has been long overdue. Until finally, Bisma and Lafa approached each other to search for music materials.

"For this song, Lafa has a larger percentage. He wants to implement what's in his head, which is said to be complicated and confusing, hehe. So, this is my personal experience combined with my perspective on myself," explained Bisma.

4. Maturation Process

Bisma refers to Yang Suri as the process of his musical maturation. Different from what he presented with Smash, marked by the presence of Yang Suri, Bisma considers this as another layer in his career journey in the music industry.

This single is the first step for Bisma Karisma in his solo journey, expressing his expressive, wild, and sensitive character towards his upcoming EP.
