Budi Doremi Overcomes Difficult Times with the Song 'Melukis Senja', Becoming the Talk of Many People

"Melukis Senja is a song about struggle, about how we get through difficult times during the pandemic. Because I believe this is not just a personal problem for musicians, but a problem for everyone. The song 'Melukis Senja' is about our prayers and hopes to get through this and be safe," said Budi Doremi at Studio 41, South Jakarta, not long ago.

1. The Difficulty of Recording During the Pandemic

The song Melukis Senja was created at the beginning of the pandemic, around March 2020. Of course, Budi Doremi experienced firsthand how difficult it was to record during the pandemic.

Furthermore, at that time all recording studios were closed due to the government's implementation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). Budi Doremi had to record the song in his own office.

"This song was created at the beginning of the pandemic, around March if I'm not mistaken. All the studios were closed, not allowed to operate, because the PSBB was in effect. So I ended up buying recording equipment and transformed my office into an impromptu recording studio," said Budi Doremi.

"To enter the building, we had to undergo PCR tests and so on, everything was limited. Alhamdulillah, it was completed in about a month, including the music video," continued Budi Doremi.

2. Response from Music Enthusiasts

After being released for four months, the song Melukis Senja (Painting the Sunset) was immediately well received by the wider community. This is evident as the song Melukis Senja has been listened to millions of times on digital music applications. In fact, its music video has already been watched 16 million times.

Budi Doremi admitted that he was surprised that his new song could be heard by so many people. What surprised Budi Doremi even more was that many people could relate to the story in the song Melukis Senja.

"I was definitely surprised, because initially our goal was to accompany nurses, sisters, doctors, and others on the front lines. But it turns out that many people have experienced this, it's truly amazing," said the 36-year-old singer.

3. Many People Share Their Problems

Not only that, because they could feel what was in the lyrics of the song Melukis Senja, people wrote about their own problems in the YouTube comments section of Budi Doremi.

"There was even one that I didn't expect, on my YouTube channel, it became a place where many people share their problems, including issues related to mental illness. So, several people who have depression and feel like committing suicide, they all share their stories in the comments," said Budi Doremi.

"So, they all share their life stories with each other. I didn't expect that, this is the first time I've made a song that is about gratitude and sharing their difficult lives," Budi Doremi concluded.
