Celebrate the Process of Musical Development, Aruma Releases Debut EP Titled 'BERTUMBUH'

Kapanlagi.com - The name Aruma is already well-known in the Indonesian music industry. Her debut song under the flag of Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia has successfully caught the public's attention and has been played over 168 million times on Spotify. The song has also been viewed 18 million times on YouTube.

It is no wonder that this girl, whose full name is Nidewi Aruman, has achieved double platinum status and won the Best Newcomer Singer award at the Indonesian Music Awards (AMI) 2023.

In 2024, Aruma is ready to release her first EP titled 'Bertumbuh' (Growing).

"Bertumbuh is actually a very personal expression for me and inspired by the process of a flower growing. Starting from a small seedling to a big one, and hoping it will bloom well if we continue to take care of it," said Aruma in a recent written statement.

"That's also how I feel about my first EP. What I have achieved so far is my growing process, starting from joining a label, releasing my debut single, learning many things in the music world, and finally releasing this EP," she continued.

There will be five songs in Bertumbuh, three old songs ("Muak", "Ekspektasi", and "Hilang Kendali") and two new songs ("Rindu Berjatuhan" and "Tunggulah Sebentar").

The process itself was quite fast because the selected songs were already released, while the rest were taken from Aruma's song bank.

2. Unique Challenges

"These five songs will portray the bitterness of life, especially in romance. Depicting something far from an ideal life. However, I wrap and deliver all the songs with graceful and sweet melodies," explained Aruma.

"This certainly presents unique challenges for me, which is how to make all the songs flow into a meaning that can stand on their own, but also, when viewed as a whole, have a common thread," she added.

For Aruma, the release of the EP Bertumbuh is a big first step in her music career, which hasn't been long. She admitted to feeling nervous but still happy. Aruma hopes that this moment will be a good start for her musical journey in the future.
