Kapanlagi.com - Duo Chika and Agus successfully caused a stir among the public with the release of their latest single titled City of the Dead on February 26, 2020. As the title suggests, this song feels so fitting with the current situation and conditions we are facing together regarding the spread of Covid-19 or the coronavirus.
City of the Dead was written by Agus Sukirno since November 2018. However, due to various reasons, this song could only be released as a single in July 2019. Agus never expected that his creation would relate to the current conditions in various countries that have started implementing lockdown systems, resulting in empty streets resembling a dead city.
"Hopefully, this is just a song and will not become a reality for me, my family, my siblings on this earth, and all the people I love," said Agus Sukirno, one of the members of Chika and Agus, in his recent written statement.

Furthermore, Agus explained that this song was actually inspired by a great war in the past, precisely in the 12th century. The theme suddenly appeared in Agus's imagination, which was then poured into a song.
"At the end of 2018, I created these lyrics inspired by a major war in the 12th century, which was still related to the Islamic history of a kingdom or called Sultan Muhammad 2 Al Fatih, the conqueror of Constantinople who fought against the descendants of Vlad 3 Tepes, the son of Vlad 2 Voivode (GOVERNOR) Wallachia in Romania," he said.

Chika Agustine, Agus's duet partner, was also involved in the creative process of making the song. Interestingly, the lyrics of City of the Dead also discuss the story of the global pandemic in the 12th century, connected to the 13th, 14th, and 15th centuries.
"Then Agus and I decided to change the time reference from the 12th century to the 20th century. Since we live in the era of the 20th century descendants, I made the lyrics in the song City Of The Dead to be in the 20th century," said Icha.
"But somehow, from the lyrics that Agus made at the end of 2018 with the mention of the 20th century, the whole world now has to go into lockdown because the world has been visited by an uninvited deadly guest and it spreads quickly and has become deadly," she added.
For now, Agus and Chika have not yet made a music video for City of the Dead, considering the current situation is not conducive. However, the audio of the song can already be listened to on several digital platforms, such as YouTube with the same title.
"Hopefully, this song can provide the best motivation for the entire world community," concluded Chika and Agus.
