Duo Suara Kayu Tells the Story of "Sibling without Status" Through Song

Kapanlagi.com - After the success of their collaboration with Yotari for the song Milikku Bukan Milikmu, the duo group Suara Kayu, consisting of Dewangga Elsandro and Ingrid Tamara, has created a new work. They have just released their new song titled Kaktus (Sibling without Status).

The song Kaktus was created by Raguel Lewi, a songwriter who has created songs for famous singers such as Mawar De Jongh, Hanin Dhiya, and many others.

Kaktus tells the story of a pair of long-time friends who are very close, like siblings. However, eventually one of them starts to develop feelings because they feel comfortable with each other.

1. Handled Very Differently

During the recording process, the song Kaktus was handled very differently compared to when Suara Kayu worked on their debut mini album.

"This recording process was slightly different from our first EP because it involved other session players that we recorded live to get a fresher sound on this single," said Ingrid on Monday (22/3/2021).

"The rest of the creative process for vocals and backing was done as usual at the Suara Kayu base camp with the Suara Kayu Family," continued Ingrid.

2. Hoping to Be Accepted by the General Public

Through the song Kaktus, Dewangga Elsandro and Ingrid Tamara hope that their single can be accepted by the general public. In addition, they also want to see the opinions of others about the song Kaktus.

"Basically, we want to know how others perceive the sound of wood. We happen to know Raguel Lewy, and we jokingly asked him to create a song for the sound of wood, and it turns out he successfully created a song that truly represents the sound of wood. He managed to capture the unique characteristics of the sound of wood in his songwriting," said Ingrid.

3. Originating from a Duo Group During Quarantine

Suara Kayu is a duo group that formed during the quarantine period. It initially started with Dewangga Elsandro and Ingrid Tamara collaborating for their YouTube content.

This collaboration activity continued as a regular songwriting session, which eventually resulted in their song titled Miniatur, which received positive responses and entered the top 50 viral chart on Spotify.

The organic sound of acoustic guitar and uniquely packaged lyrics are their distinctive features that successfully attract listeners.
