Erwin Gutawa and Yura Yunita Revive 80s Music with Advanced Technology

Most recently, the father of Gita Gutawa collaborated with young singer Yura Yunita to 'revive' a classic mega hit song from the 1980s; Tak Kuduga.

As is known, Tak Kuduga is a song created by Erwin and Lulu Gutawa, popularized by Ruth Sahanaya in her era. This hit single even received various prestigious awards, such as the BASF Awards.

Erwin, who is known for his orchestral touch, attempts to bring a more modern and current 'spirit' to this new version of the song Tak Kuduga. However, Erwin and Yura still maintain the nostalgic element to bring music lovers back to the past.

This new version of the song Tak Kuduga was mixed by Eko Sulistiyo and also received audio mastering by Chris Gehringer, a renowned sound engineer from America who has been nominated for Grammy Awards. So you can imagine how epic this song is because it is handled by musicians who are experts in their respective fields.

In recent times, the touch of old-school music from the 80s to the 90s has started to make a comeback in the music industry, both in Indonesia and worldwide. For example, in Indonesia, there are songs from Diskoria that are very hyped, while internationally, there are international singers like Bruno Mars and Dua Lipa who also implement 1980s music.

"Perhaps the music cycle, every few decades, it does exist. Through digital technology, young people can have a wide range of references. The beat, melody, and chord progressions of 1980s music indeed have unique characteristics," said Erwin Gutawa in a press release received by KapanLagi.com.

In response to this collaboration, Erwin did not hesitate to praise Yura Yunita, whom he called the perfect representation to perform a cover of the song Tak Kuduga. "Her voice (Yura Yunita) is distinctive, and her energy is very infectious. I am very excited to collaborate," praised Erwin for Yura.

What is equally special, this new version of Tak Kuduga is also released with spatial audio, which is a new sensation in listening to music, processed with Dolby Atmos technology, just like in films. This technology involves placing virtual sound sources anywhere in three-dimensional space, including behind, above, or below the listener. And this sensation can be experienced using earphones/headphones.
