Runner up of Masterchef Indonesia season 6, Firhan Ashari filled the Workshop Xsis session which raised the theme of Contemporary Culinary Business Inspiration. Besides chatting with host Caesar Gunawan, he also demonstrated directly how to make one of Indonesia's original foods, Risoles Cokelat Lumer. Not only that, the conversation with Firhan also went smoothly because for him cooking is in his blood and can be relied upon as stress releasing. In fact, it turns out that Firhan himself prefers cooking rather than eating. Funny, isn't it?

Firhan further believes that the culinary development in Indonesia is currently progressing rapidly. It is proven by the variety of Indonesian foods that have undergone various modifications. In addition, he also shared about the main challenges of starting a culinary business and culinary trends in the country.

“Currently, the main challenge in starting a trendy culinary business is actually just a matter of prestige. If you follow the trend, your business won't go anywhere. If the business doesn't go well, money won't circulate. But it's really important to circulate money because if money doesn't circulate, it will just disappear. Currently, frozen food is very popular. Due to the pandemic, frozen food is truly loved. Because we wanted to eat at a restaurant but couldn't, so the way to overcome it is by using frozen food," explained Firhan clearly.

Talking with Santhi Serad about the Speciality of Local Flavors

In addition to Firhan Ashari, the inspirational talk show session also featured Santhi Serad to share about the Flavors of the Archipelago. This woman is truly inspirational because she is one of the pioneers of a community called Aku Cinta Masakan Indonesia (I Love Indonesian Cuisine) or ACMI along with Bondan Winarno and William Wongso. The goal is, of course, to increase love for authentic Indonesian food which is diverse.

"Indonesia is very rich, each region has its own unique culinary traditions," explained Santhi.

In addition, she also gives advice for those who want to survive in the culinary business. The most important point is to be able to adapt to the digital world.

"You have to think about how to be more creative, and don't forget to utilize e-commerce and social media because digitalization is very important now. Also, don't forget to think about payment methods because in the future, payments will be more cashless. As much as possible, you have to adapt to the digital world," said Santhi Serad.
