Experiencing Excessive Anxiety Disorders, Yankjay Guitarist Presents 'Daydreams' Song for Calmness and Encouragement for Mental Illness Sufferers

Yes, the guitarist who became a session player for Afgan, Armand Maulana, Isyana, Fadly (Padi) and Friends will release a solo acoustic guitar instrumental song titled Daydreams. The song is planned to be released on October 24, 2021. Daydreams is Yankjay's work taken from his personal experience as a sufferer of one of the mental illnesses, which is anxiety disorder.

Through Daydreams, Yankjay wants people who suffer from mental illness to find peace. Moreover, the song Daydreams is only made with guitar plucking and no other musical instruments. Therefore, people with mental illness can feel more calm when listening to this song Daydreams.

"That's it from my experience as a sufferer of mental illness. Hopefully, it becomes a sound therapy for those who are experiencing anxiety, panic, stress, and depression," said Yankjay to reporters on Tuesday (19/10/2021). It didn't take long to work on the song Daydreams. Considering that Yankjay only used a guitar as the musical instrument.

1. Challenges to Get the Feeling in the Song

Although the recording process was quite short, Yankjay admitted that he still faced difficulties while working on the song. "The challenge is to feel the playing, because it's only instrumental guitar, so the feeling has to be there," he said. Despite that, Yankjay claimed that he didn't need a long process because he used fingerstyle instrumentals. Therefore, the recording only required a few takes and the best recording was selected.

Yankjay is a musician who has become a session player for top singers in the country, such as Armand Maulana (Arana Project), Afgan, Isyana Sarasvati, Fadly (PADI) and Friends, Natasha Pramudita, and many more. Besides being known as a session player for top Indonesian singers, Yankjay has also formed a music group with Indro Hardjodikoro called Hei Band.

But it doesn't stop there, Yankjay has also been a backing band member for the late Yockie Suryoprayogo in the concert Badai Pasti Berlalu.
