Initially Sounding Like a Song by Candra Darusman, the Story Behind 'Konservatif' by The Adams Written by Jimi Multhazam

KLovers, you must know the song Konservatif by The Adams, right? Yes, this song is part of their self-titled debut album released in 2005. Although two decades have passed, Konservatif is still often played and remains relevant for many listeners.

But, did you know that the iconic lyric "at 9 PM I go home" was actually not written by the members of The Adams themselves? The lyrics of this song were actually born from the creative hands of Jimi Multhazam, the vocalist of The Upstairs and MORFEM. Here are the details.

To Kapanlagi.com, Jimi shared an interesting story about the process of creating this song. According to Jimi, the song Konservatif was actually written spontaneously. At that time, Ario Hendarwan, the vocalist of The Adams, was busy working on the mixing of the Matraman album.

"The song Konservatif was written in an instant, actually. So the vocalist of The Adams at that time was mixing the Matraman album," said Jimi Multhazam at the demajors office recently.

"When you come to his house, he might not be in a good mood, maybe PMS, hahahaha," Jimi added, then laughed.

Because the situation was not conducive for working, Jimi finally asked Ario to open one of his song files. After looking at the available file, Jimi felt the music sounded a bit boring. "So he opened one of his song files, it was a bit boring. That's where I wrote about Konservatif. The notation was already there, I just wrote the lyrics," he explained.

Interestingly, the early version of this song is very different from the one we know today. Jimi said that the initial arrangement was more similar to Candra Darusman's songs. "The initial form is not like Conservative as it is now. It actually sounds more like a Candra Darusman song," said Jimi, then laughed.

However, The Adams eventually decided to change the arrangement to better fit their musical character. "That's why I chose that one, because the others were all Weezer, Weezer. In the end, when it was changed to how it is now, it became cool," said Jimi.

This change turned out to be successful, because after the song was finished, Ario's expression immediately changed. "When I wrote the song, that's when the vocalist of The Adams smiled. Seems like he was on PMS, hahahaha," Jimi concluded with a joke.

The result? Conservative has now become one of the most iconic songs from The Adams. With simple yet relatable lyrics, plus a distinctive musical arrangement, this song has successfully remained in the hearts of listeners until now.
