Lukman Reveals the Moment the Peterpan Reunion Concert Was Sparked, Initially Just a Discourse

Kapanlagi.com - The news about the return of Peterpan for a reunion concert is certainly a breath of fresh air for their fans. Titled "The Journey Continues: All About Us", this concert is scheduled to be held at the Eldorado Dome, Bandung, on August 31, 2025.

Interestingly, this concert will not feature Ariel as the main vocalist. Instead, the stage will be filled by a lineup of renowned singers such as Fiersa Besari, Marcello Tahitoe, Tiara Andini, and Alexander Teh.

Who would have thought, the idea to perform together again has actually been a long-standing discussion among the members, even though it has not yet materialized. Peterpan's guitarist, Lukman, revealed that the desire to perform together again initially was just a notion. He explained that the conversation often arose but had not found a way to be executed.

"Actually, we have often talked about it before, like each of us saying, 'I want to perform together.' It was just a notion really," Lukman said when met at Studio Sepat, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/8/2025).

The plan never progressed further due to the busyness of each member at that time. According to him, there was no clear picture of how the concert could be realized.

"It never happened because we didn't know how to execute it, right. Uki himself has activities, Reza, everyone has activities," he said.

1. Starting from Coffee Together

The light finally appeared when the personnel gathered in Bandung in a more relaxed atmosphere. According to Lukman, it was during their conversation over coffee that the big decision to hold the reunion concert was sparked.

"Until finally we were in Bandung, yes, having coffee. 'Let’s just do it'. Then, I thought, the one who can execute all of this, I immediately thought of Aloka," explained the guitarist.

The decision to partner with Aloka as the promoter was not without reason. Lukman admitted to having positive experiences working with Aloka on various NOAH projects, which he deemed always successful.

"Because we had worked together, I have worked with NOAH several times and it has thankfully succeeded with various strategies and everything. Finally, we partnered with Aloka," he said.

On the other hand, Budi Mulianto, a Founder & CEO of Aloka, admitted he was momentarily silent when first contacted by Lukman. He did not deny that the offer to hold the Peterpan reunion concert was a very interesting project that also posed its own challenges.

"Yes, of course, I was called by Lukman and then we finally met. I was quite silent for a moment actually," said Budi.

2. The Biggest Challenge

The biggest challenge he sees is how to present Peterpan's performance, which is so closely associated with its vocalist. Budi mentions that the figure of Ariel is one of the strong elements that is difficult to find a match for.

"Because when Peterpan wants to perform live again, it will definitely be without a vocalist. For me, this is very challenging. It means that all this time we know Peterpan with six people, one of the frontmen is, for me, one of the frontmen is Ariel. This is a figure that is difficult for us; it is very, what should I say, giving a different feeling will definitely be very difficult," he explained.

However, after looking from a different perspective and receiving support from Ariel, Budi feels confident that this project can go ahead. According to him, Peterpan is no longer just a band, but has become part of the soundtrack of many people's lives in Indonesia.

"But maybe I see it from a different angle. So when I was told how Peterpan could perform live again and then I tried to look at it from a different perspective and at that time it was indeed supported by Ariel as well. I see that Peterpan has become part of the lives of millions of people, has inspired many people, and has become the soundtrack of many people's lives," he said.

3. Bridge of Past Memories & Current Enthusiasm

In the end, a unique concept emerged that will be carried out in the upcoming concert. Aloka wants to bring the spirit of Peterpan that can be enjoyed by both long-time fans and the new generation.

"And finally I tried, this is interesting. It means, if it's live, how do we create this concept in this current era, which is Peterpan with cross-generational appeal," he said.

This "cross-generational" concept is expected to serve as a bridge between past memories and current enthusiasm, where this concert will feature collaborations with several young singers. Budi explained that this concert will be a valuable nostalgic moment for those who grew up with Peterpan's songs.

"It means this, Peterpan will definitely be a nostalgia for those who were around in that era," he concluded.
