Making Astonished When Performing with Hundreds of Dancers, Isyana Sarasvati Successfully Styled Like Ibu Fatmawati

Kapanlagi.com - No less than 203 traditional and modern dancers performed spectacularly on the stage of the Sabang Merauke Pahlawan Nusantara Showcase, which was held on August 19 and 20, 2023 at JIExpo Theatre, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. In this performance, hundreds of dancers also showcased various choreographies that reflect the cultural diversity inherited from the ancestors of the nation, spread from Aceh to Papua.

Under the command of Sandhidea Cahyo Narpati as the lead choreographer, the beauty of dance movements was also supported by other choreographers, namely Dian Bokir, Puri Senja, Rizqy Dhafin, Eka Lutfi, Safina Adriani, Pulung Jati, as well as regional dance artists such as Mugiyono Kasido, Abib Igal, Gunk Mas, and Okvalica. He said that the participation of 203 dancers in this opportunity is a significant increase from the previous year's performance involving 144 dancers.

“If I calculate when the dancers are not double scene, it can be around 500 dancers. However, because with 500 dancers it will become more complex, we have a strategy on how to arrange and stitch all the regional elements into a complete presentation,” said Sandhidea when met at Jiexpo Theatre, Central Jakarta not long ago.

1. Dazzling Choreography

Not only hundreds of dancers presenting the beauty of traditional and modern dance movements on a magnificent stage, but also a number of singers were challenged to perform choreography, like Mirabeth Sonia. The difference this time is that this Indonesian Idol X finalist not only sings with her melodious voice, but also has to perform silat martial arts choreography.

“Certainly, in the Sabang Merauke Performance, I learned a lot from the beginning. Initially, I only sang, but this year I got more involved and there was choreography, especially in the scene where I portrayed Siti Manggopoh (West Sumatra). In that scene, I had to do silat choreography, so it was more challenging than previous performances,” said Mirabeth.

Meanwhile, singer Isyana Sarasvati feels grateful to be able to contribute to the vibrant Sabang Merauke Nusantara Heroes Performance. Moreover, there were many things she explored in her performance for this show.

“I feel very happy because as a young generation, I can revive Indonesian culture. By wearing traditional clothing, I can increase awareness about the various beauties of culture and about our national heroes,” said Isyana in her official release.

“It is an honor to wear clothes like Ibu Fatmawati. I am very happy to be able to enter her spirit, even though she is an irreplaceable figure. Meanwhile, when I wear traditional Sundanese clothing, it feels very nostalgic because I grew up in Bandung,” she concluded.
