Pee Wee Gaskins Shakes Pestapora 2025, Brings 90s Nostalgia Through Epic Collaboration

Kapanlagi.com - The performance of Pee Wee Gaskins (PWG) at Pestapora 2025 truly became one of the most anticipated moments. The Jakarta-based pop-punk band set the Gambir Expo stage on fire, JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Friday (5/9/2025), right after Friday prayers at 1:30 PM WIB. Bringing the concept Salute from Pee Wee Gaskins, they invited thousands of audience members to reminisce with legendary 90s songs reimagined with PWG's signature energy.

PWG opened the setlist with Terbang by GIGI, which happened to be re-released on the same day. A surprise emerged when Thomas Budiarto, the legendary bassist of GIGI, joined them on stage. The Chemistry between Thomas and Dochi Sadega and friends brought a cross-generational collaboration that successfully made the audience erupt in cheers.

1. Other Remake Performances

Not stopping there, PWG presented 10 remake songs that brought Party Dorks, the name for their loyal fans as well as other spectators, back to the golden era of 90s music. One of the most emotional moments occurred when they performed Bermimpi by Base Jam. The presence of Sigit Pramono who dueted with Sansan added to the magic, making thousands of spectators swept away in an enthusiastic sing-along.

Other songs like Konservatif (The Adams) and Piknik 72 (Naif) also successfully revived the atmosphere. With the characteristic synth touch of Omo, the guitar riff of Ayi, and the drum beats of Aldy, the PWG arrangement sounded fresher without losing the original essence of those songs.

As a finale, PWG performed Kangen by Dewa 19. That moment turned into a mass karaoke, uniting thousands of spectators in collective euphoria. This performance proved that music is not just entertainment, but a space of nostalgia that can embrace across generations.

2. Latest EP Promotion

This concert is also part of the promotion for their latest EP, SALUTE FROM PEE WEE GASKINS: TURN BACK TIME. The mini album features five legendary songs popularized by Naif, GIGI, /Rif, Base Jam, and The Adams.

"Actually, this is a continuation of our 2018 EP Salute to 90’s. However, this time, we are not limiting it to a specific range of years and have made it broader. So, conceptually, this is a tribute to the bands that we idolized and listened to in the past," explained Ayi.

3. Faced Delays Due to Song Permissions

Although the work only took about one and a half months, the process was not always smooth. Omo revealed that they faced delays regarding song permissions.

"Even though it was relatively quick, we faced quite a few challenges, especially in terms of song selection. There were several songs that should have been the choices, but unfortunately, we did not get permission from the creators. In the end, we had to look for other songs," he said.

The joining of PWG with the WeCord Evermore label marks the beginning of a new chapter in their music journey. Now, with the same energy and musical maturity, PWG proves that they are still one of the leading pop-punk bands in Indonesia capable of rocking major festivals while also touching hearts through nostalgia.
