Kapanlagi.com - Singer Cakra Khan is set to perform at the Java Jazz Festival 2025, which will be held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on May 30. On this occasion, Cakra will perform with Jakarta Drum School, presenting legendary songs from The Beatles.

Carrying the concept of "Reinterpretation to The Beatles", Cakra will add his unique touch to the works of the British band. He revealed the reason behind his decision to accept this offer.

"First, I think all musicians know that the Beatles contributed a lot. I really enjoy, you know, making music with great people," said Cakra Khan when met at ICSL Studio, Senopati, South Jakarta, on Monday (26/5/2025).

Without hesitation, Cakra immediately agreed when he received news from his manager. He expressed his enthusiasm to be part of this exciting music project.

"When my manager informed me, I immediately cleared that date," said Cakra Khan.

1. Dedication and Feelings

According to Cakra, making music is not just about material things, but about dedication and feelings. He emphasizes that he always performs with all his heart.

"Because I love music, it's never just about money, I always try to deliver my music performances with my heart. When I get the opportunity, I always go all out, I'm excited," he said.

In his upcoming performance, Cakra Khan is scheduled to perform five songs by The Beatles. He assures that he will deliver those songs with a unique interpretation.

"I try to perform in my own way, I do my best," Cakra revealed.

The conceptor and music director, Harry Murti, expressed the reason for choosing Cakra Khan as part of this project. He considers Cakra to be a strong figure who can entertain sincerely.

2. Rare Musical Instruments

"Must have a strong, entertaining figure, just one, yes Cakra Khan. The figure of Cakra Khan is not money-oriented; it turns out he also enjoys it. We chat, that's what makes it complete," said Harry.

Harry also emphasized that the entire licensing process to perform The Beatles' songs has been handled by Java Jazz. He believes this is very important to respect copyright.

"The first thing I will ask, because it does not belong to us. At every festival they already have agreements with the label and they have a way of calculating royalties. That is handled by Java Jazz, especially for the festival, I have already asked for permission, that is a crucial matter, we cannot be careless," he explained.

Jakarta Drum School also collaborates with several renowned musicians such as Balawan, Andre Dinuth, Shadu Rasyidi, Marco Steffiano (Barasuara), Timur Segara (Float), and Aldy Abuthan (Easy Tiger). Ari from Jakarta Drum School explained how this grand concept was designed.

"Coincidentally, Java Jazz trusts me to create the concept, and it is placed on the main stage, not just anyone. That's why we made The Beatles for JDS," said Harry.

Harry also mentioned that they will bring a rare musical instrument, the Fender 9 Neck Masterbuilt Prestige Guitar, the only one in the world. This experimental guitar can only be played by musicians like Balawan.

3. Four Segments

"The consideration of The Beatles is well-known and legendary. Bring the 9-neck guitar made by Paul Waller, it's the only guitar in the world that we bring to Jakarta. It's functional, we think only Balawan can play that guitar. Balawan is exciting," Harry explained.

This special performance will be presented in four segments representing the phases of The Beatles' musical journey. Harry mentioned that each segment has a different approach.

"There are 4 segments, rock and roll, then moving to rock, a bit of metal, and the '67 psychedelic era, and running into pop. The contribution of The Beatles is huge. To make it easier, Cakra Khan is given the songs. Today is the first day. There are 7 drummers here," he elaborated.

Cakra Khan also admitted that he faced challenges when interpreting The Beatles' songs. However, he still tried to present those songs with a personal approach.

"If it's said to be difficult, because it is indeed original work, from my side of singing, we can't match The Beatles, I'm trying to present it in my own way, I'm doing my best. Here I am super happy," said Cakra Khan.

4. Long And Winding Road

When asked about his favorite song by The Beatles, Cakra mentioned one of his favorites. The song has a deep meaning and he feels emotionally connected to it.

"If it's really difficult, all of The Beatles' songs are heartfelt. My favorite is Long And Winding Road," he said.

The duration of Cakra Khan's performance with Jakarta Drum School at the Java Jazz Festival 2025 will last for one hour. For that, Cakra is preparing his physical condition as best as he can.

"Memorizing is still one part of the performance. Take care of your physical health, pray a lot so everything goes smoothly," Cakra Khan concluded.
