Kapanlagi.com - Although not the main focus of the music industry in Indonesia, jazz genre still has a long and historical tradition in Indonesia. Some of our jazz musicians have even been recognized worldwide. Based on this fact, it's no wonder that many great talents emerge in the jazz world, such as Daniel Dyonisius.

Daniel is a talented composer and guitarist from Jakarta. If there are still many who do not know him, tomorrow, on Friday (12/17), Daniel will introduce himself through his debut album titled MILES TO GO in collaboration with Demajors record label.

MILES TO GO can be considered as a fusion of jazz, rock, and blues. There are a total of 7 songs prepared by Daniel for his debut album, including Freedom, Miles To Go, Stella By Starlight, Malam Bergumam, Time Will Tell, A.H. Blues, Ikhtiar, and Sunyata.

1. Collaboration with Dewa Budjana

The album MILES TO GO features Qadra Shakuhachi on drums and Hanhan on bass. Guitarist Dewa Budjana appears as a guest star on the song Freedom, adding unique colors to the opening composition of this album. His involvement somewhat explains his enthusiasm for Daniel's work.

"Daniel is a new name that caught my attention with his playing style and composition. With the strong role of Qadra and Hanhan in the rhythm section, MILES TO GO showcases a solid guitar trio combination," said the jazz guitarist, who is also known as a member of Gigi.

2. Daniel Dyonisius' Musical Inspiration

The track titled Miles To Go is described as a tribute to Indonesian jazz composers, songwriters, and musicians. This track feels like a spiritual journey through music, starting with intense and explorative guitar solos and transitioning into a ballad with calming and simple melodic themes.

The inspiration for the songs on this album comes not only from foreign jazz musicians such as John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Wes Montgomery, Lee Ritenour, and Allan Holdsworth, but also from the poetic melodies and lyrics of Indonesian musicians like Ebiet G. Ade, Guruh Soekarno Putra, Chrisye, Eros Djarot, Yockie Suryoprayogo, Tonny Koeswoyo, and Dewa Budjana.

3. Growing Up in a Family of Music Lovers

Daniel Dyonisius grew up in a family of music and art lovers. From a young age, he was surrounded by the sounds of traditional music, jazz, pop, and rock from various countries. He started learning the guitar at the age of 10, like many children who are interested in the image of musicians on stage or on the streets of Jakarta. Although he started with classical guitar, Daniel has been experimenting with improvisation and composing music from the beginning.

Daniel hopes to continue producing and releasing his own music. In the future, he wants to incorporate more sounds and elements from various sources, including traditional Indonesian music, into his compositions. His goal in making music is for his work to be a source of therapy for listeners, wherever they may be.

4. Receiving Praise and Support from Lee Ritenour

The album Miles to Go is available on various digital streaming platforms and also in compact disc (CD) format in the demajors distribution network. For those of you who are still hesitant to try, believe me, this album is extraordinary. Even world-renowned jazz musician Lee Ritenour also expressed his support for Daniel.

"I first became aware of the very talented guitarist, Daniel Dyonisius, through my worldwide Six String Theory Competition. Through my competition, I've been able to hear a wide variety of amazing guitarists from all over the world. When I heard Daniel Dyonisius' new album, I was so pleased to see that he had created his own unique guitar style. Daniel combined his songwriting, arranging, sound, and (most importantly) played with so much feeling, into his project, Miles to Go... Congratulations Daniel! Your album deserves to be heard by many! Keep up the great work!" expressed Lee Ritenour in a press release received by KapanLagi.com.
