Release of New Single 'Coba Bertahan', Vagetoz Pours Out the Sad Story of the Vocalist Being Cheated on by His Partner

Kapanlagi.com - The popular band from the 2000s, Vagetoz, is now starting to become active again in the Indonesian music industry. Just 6 months ago, the group, consisting of Teguh Permana (vocals), Acep Gunawan (guitar), Irman alias Nuki (guitar), Budi alias Eboth (bass), and Rudi alias Uday (drums), released a new single titled Coba Bertahan (Try to Endure).

Like Vagetoz's other songs, this single is also the work of Teguh Permana, the vocalist. The lyrics are written based on his personal experience.

"The process of this song was actually made quite a while ago, and the inspiration itself is almost all of the songs I made based on personal experience," said Tegu in a press release received by KapanLagi.com recently.

1. Story of Being Cheated by a Partner

Try to Survive tells the story of someone who loves their partner sincerely. Although this person knows that their partner is cheating, they still hold on and hope that their partner can change. It is a story of unconditional love that touches the heart. And Teguh turns out to have experienced it.

"I have also experienced this. It's just not exactly the same as what I poured into this song," said Teguh.

2. Encountered a Problem of Lost Data

Who would have thought there was a unique story during the process of recording the song Try to Survive. Although everything was going smoothly at first, suddenly a technical obstacle was experienced by them in the end.

"All the (recording) data disappeared. The backup was with my friend. The mistake was that we didn't have another backup on an external hard drive. We didn't think about it," he recalled.

At that time, they thought there was still one more data in another studio. But it turned out that the Vagetoz members had to be disappointed because those data were also infected by a virus.

"It turned out that when we wanted to retrieve the data, my friend informed me that his computer was infected by a virus, everything was gone, including Vagetoz's data. So, we had to start over, recording from the beginning," he explained further.

3. Had to Retake Vocals

The problem didn't stop there. Teguh also had to repeat the vocal recording because he felt that his vocals were not perfect due to health issues.

"At that time, I was not in good condition, my voice was gone but I still forced myself to sing a little bit. I didn't get it right away. After a few days, I listened again and thought, 'Why does it sound like this?' Maybe I didn't realize that my power and interpretation were lacking. So, I had to retake the vocals," Teguh said while laughing.

4. The Main Strength Lies in the Lyrics

The arrangement of Coba Bertahan can be considered quite simple. However, Teguh emphasizes that the main strength lies in the lyrics, which are very relatable to many people.

"What makes it different is the story of the song and how I deliver it. This song is quite sad. It feels different from previous songs. What we want to offer is not just the music, but the story of the song. Hopefully, the music arrangement and the musical notation can truly represent friends with this song. Because I believe that there are many out there who can relate to these lyrics," he added.

5. Stay Creative in Difficult Times

The release of this single is also intended to encourage other musicians to continue creating. As we know, the Covid-19 pandemic has limited our movements, especially for musicians. Many scheduled performances have been canceled due to the prohibition of gatherings.

However, for Vagetoz, these obstacles have not dampened their spirits to keep creating. And in the end, the single Coba Bertahan was officially released.
