After nearly three decades known as a pop-punk band with songs themed around youth life, Rocket Rockers takes a different step at the age of 27 in their career.

The band from Bandung officially released a religious single titled Yang in collaboration with Semesta Records, a work born from the reflections of its members who are now entering a new phase in life.

The change in theme brought by Rocket Rockers is not without reason. As they age, the members, who have now become parents, start to view life from a different perspective. Concerns about various social issues faced by the younger generation became one of the triggers for the birth of this song. Here are the details.

The vocalist and guitarist of Rocket Rockers, Aska, revealed that age is the main factor behind his band's decision to create religious songs. According to him, the increasing life experience leads them to reflect more.

"If there's a trigger, it's also because of age. We, as fathers, are also concerned about our children regarding social media and mental health; at least that's worrying for us," explained Aska in the Blok M area, South Jakarta, Thursday (4/6/2026).

This condition has made the members of Rocket Rockers feel the need to present works that carry a deeper message. They want to convey something relevant to the various challenges that many people, especially the younger generation living amid the overwhelming flow of information and social pressure, are currently facing.

This decision also marks a new milestone in the journey of Rocket Rockers. Since its formation in 1999, the band, led by Aska, Bisma, Ozom, and other members, has never released a song with a religious nuance like Yang.

Bisma acknowledged that from the beginning, they indeed wanted to create something different from their previous works. "Yes, we came up with the idea to create something that we have never done in 27 years. But there is a condition, so Aska wants the one who composes this song to not be a member. We trust one additional guitarist, Samuel, with them," said Bisma.

Through the song Yang, Rocket Rockers aims to convey a message of self-empowerment to the listeners. The song invites anyone who is going through difficult times to keep hope and not give up on their situation.

The message has become increasingly close to the lives of the personnel who now not only think of themselves but also of their families and the future of their children. Their experiences as parents make them feel it's important to present works that can provide a broader meaning.

Bisma emphasizes that the essence of the song "Yang" is about the spirit to rise from adversity. The message is hoped to be accepted by various groups regardless of age or background. "This song talks about if you are in the lowest phase of life, don't despair," added Bisma.

The release of "Yang" simultaneously proves that Rocket Rockers continues to evolve even after 27 years. In fact, at this increasingly mature age, they find new ways to convey their concerns and life values through music that is more reflective and meaningful.
