Release of the Album 'Joged', Slank Affirms Still Critical in Creating

Kapanlagi.com - Marking 40 years of working, the band Slank held a concert entitled 'Slank Joged 40rever' at the Jakarta Arts Building (GKJ) on Thursday (28/12/2023). On this occasion, the band consisting of Bimbim, Kaka, Ivan, Ridho, and Abdee officially released their 25th album titled 'Joged'.

"This concert is a form of celebration for 40 years and also to introduce our new album," said Bimbim, Slank's drummer, in a press conference at the Jakarta Arts Building (GKJ), Central Jakarta, on Thursday (28/12/2023).

Bimbim emphasized that the album 'Joged' is a response to the view that Slank has lost its criticality in their music works.

"Certainly, this album still has a critical tone. We always express criticism through our works. For those who think we are not critical, they only follow some of Slank's albums," said Bimbim.

"In fact, in the last 10 years, Slank's albums have still tried to convey criticism towards social issues in Indonesia," added Bimbim.

The 'Joged' album consists of nine songs. Kaka, the vocalist of Slank, stated that the songs in this album are an expression of their views on social issues in Indonesia.

"We try to express what we feel through a work. Of course, this expression is a portrait of social issues over the past two years," said Kaka.

About the title 'Joged', Kaka explained that it reflects Slank's approach to the cultural diversity of Indonesia, where each region has its unique cultural heritage.

"Every region has its own dance or joged. So the meaning of the word Joged is very broad, although the song remains critical," said Kaka.

2. Give a Different Atmosphere

Bimbim also admitted that in terms of music, the 'Joged' album gives a different atmosphere from Slank's previous works, which always tried to adapt to the development of the times.

"Slank tries to innovate, including with this album. The music is very different, but we still rock n roll," said Bimbim.

Slank has started working on the 'Joged' album since January 2023. The recording process was done in a villa in Bogor, West Java, for five days. However, the song material for this album had been prepared long before. The 'Joged' album will be released on all digital platforms on December 29, 2023.
