Release of the song 'Kamu', @legendamusikindo Realizes Tompi's Dream to Duet with Trie Utami

Kapanlagi.com - The Covid-19 pandemic does not hinder the spirit of @legendamusikindo to continue working. The jazz song titled Kamu, composed by Glenn Rotty, was released on Friday (26/2). This time, Trie Utami, Tompi, and Indra Lesmana were involved in the production process of this song.

Tompi's presence in this project is inseparable from the discussion between Glenn and Trie Utami. At that time, they were looking for someone suitable to perform this song and finally duet with Trie Utami.

1. Singers who are Equally 'Naughty'

"Initially, we (Glenn and Trie Utami) were looking for singers who are equally 'naughty', because based on the song, we thought it was quite specific and not many people could perform it. Then I thought, who could fit with this song style? Only one name came up, Dr. Tompi," explained Trie Utami in Jakarta this week.

"Besides being 'naughty', it also means that the singer is able to interpret songs like this," she continued.

2. No Second Thoughts

Meanwhile, Tompi admitted that he did not need to think twice when Trie Utami contacted him. For him, being able to duet with Trie Utami is a dream come true.

"When Trie Utami contacted me, I didn't think twice and it has been on my bucket list, to duet with Trie Utami," said the singer whose real name is Teuku Adifitrian.

"Unfortunately, the song is catchy!" added Tompi.

3. Very Detailed

Not just singing the song, Trie Utami and Tompi also participated in all the processes in its creation.

"Both of us really think about the details of this song, such as the keyboard, bass, and so on. It's very detailed so that there is energy that emerges in the song, where we are involved from the beginning," said Trie Utami.

Glenn Rotty, the song's creator, is proud of this collaboration. He praised the quality and professionalism of Trie Utami and Tompi in this collaboration.

"I enjoyed all the processes from the beginning to the stage of making the music video. There is great enthusiasm from all of us to give the best for this single," he said.

4. Worked on in the United States

Kamu is a song worked on by veteran jazz musicians from Indonesia. Trie Utami and Tompi provide the vocal duo, Indra Lesmana strengthens the keyboard/electric piano, Echa Soemantri (drums), Bass. G (brass section and flute), and Stefanus (guitar/arranger).

Meanwhile, the song mastering was done in the United States by Ted Jensen, who successfully led the song Come Away with Me (Norah Jones) to win a Grammy Award for the categories Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

"This is the Indonesian jazz song that has been eagerly awaited this year, which of course we hope can indulge jazz music enthusiasts in Indonesia," said President Director @legendamusikindo Faisal Nurdin.

In addition to the song Kamu, two other singles that have been released by @legendamusikindo this year are Kau dan Aku (Dudy Oris and Lala Karmela) and Sudah Waktunya (The Gentlemen). Kamu is available on various digital stores on February 26, 2021, accompanied by the release of a music video (directed by Anton Ismael) for this single through the Legenda Musikindo channel on YouTube.
