Slank Ready to 'Poison' Generation Z Through a Live Album Recorded Over 23 Years

The power of social media has once again proven capable of bridging generations. This time, the legendary band Slank has felt its impact directly, prompting them to release a phenomenal work while waiting for their 26th studio album.

After their old songs went viral on TikTok, this group, consisting of Bimbim, Kaka, Abdee, Ivanka, and Ridho, officially released their latest CD album titled THE GREATEST HITS LIVE. This album is very special because it is not just an ordinary studio recording, but a presentation that captures the energy and atmosphere of their concert in a real way.

This phenomenon was triggered by the enthusiasm of Generation Z, who have made Slank's songs their favorite sound, encouraging the legend to reintroduce their work to a younger audience. Bimbim, the drummer, revealed that the virality of their songs among young people was the main catalyst behind the birth of this album.

"It turns out that many of Slank's works are liked by Gen Z kids. Then they started to find out about Slank, who is this band," explained Bimbim at KFC Kemang Timur, South Jakarta, Wednesday (17/9/2025).

Seeing this momentum as a golden opportunity, Slank does not want to waste it. With a new spirit, Bimbim stated that the goal of this album is to 'poison' young listeners with their timeless works.

"As Kaka said, through this hit single we want to poison Gen Z kids so they like Slank's songs," said Bimbim.

The concept of this live album is being worked on very seriously. Kaka, the vocalist, explained that the material for this album is curated from an audio data bank they have collected over the years, considering Slank has a habit of recording every stage performance they do.

"Because this band Slank has a habit of recording every performance in audio form, just to have data for ourselves. So what goes into this album has been curated to be the best of the recordings," said Kaka.

This album features 15 hit songs recorded live from various major Slank stages over a very long period, from 2002 to 2025. These recordings capture iconic moments such as the Virus Roadshow concert tour in 2002, the Satu Satu Live Tour in 2003, and the most recent major performances like Pestapora 2024 and the 41st anniversary celebration of Slank.

One of the most interesting aspects is the special collaboration with the children of Slank's personnel, namely Mezzaluna, Lula, and Chaska. This collaborative performance was captured when they appeared together at the Pasar Malam Empat Satoe concert in early 2025. This album is hoped to be a special offering, both for loyal fans and new listeners.
